Age of Conan certainly proved that to be true and a good part of what ultimately killed the RP-PvP server there was Funcom's refusal to enforce the rules they set for it...that and the fact that Craig Morrison, the 2nd game director, pretty clearly felt nothing but contempt for roleplayers.

The thing here is that I don't really feel a separate server for RP is necessary but rather just give roleplayers some tools to remove themselves from the likelihood of getting trolled. Empty phased instances accessible to groups would do that. And roleplayers would definitely NOT completely stop roleplaying out in the wider world. Roleplayers tend to roleplay all the time, regardless of where they are. But the option to "escape" in order to have troll-free events, all withut requiring any staff to come deal with troublemakers, would help both roleplayers AND ZOS. And it would certainly go a long way towards proving they really do "care" about the RP community and give them some much needed positive PR.
