Solo play or group play?

ferdiverbeekeb17_ESO2
I am looking forward to the PS4 version of this game. I played it during beta. I really liked Oblivion and Skyrim and I really like to play an MMO on PS4.

At PS4, I play a lot with friends. I wonder, is this game suitable for a group of friends or is it a solo game with just some group elements?

I know it is an "MMO" but I often read people play this game for the solo quests. It seems to me the solo players are having the most fun experience. Is any of you playing the quests with friends? Does it work? Is it fun?

Haha funny. I hope you can tell me how questing works in a group.

For questing, you just have to make sure everybody progresses through all the quest steps. Some quests will auto-update if one player completes a step, others will make each player complete each step individually.

There are a lot of fun things to do in a group, (group dungeons, delves, public dungeons, world bosses, PvP). I find questing is easier to solo, but I do have a lot of fun grouping up with folks and doing different activities.

I sure hope they have a working LFG tool before the console launch or its gonna be difficult to get ones going.

If they ever want to compete with the more popular MMOs they are going to have to get one.

I liked GW2 version of the LFG tool I hope they get ideas from that one.

Well....I just posted a suggestion in the PTS feedback to open up all solo-only quests/zone to allow 2- 4 people because on console allowing people to play together and then phase each of them out is very confusing.

Especially when the box says internet required for play.
Its like playing Destiny and then going into a phased section in a strike team and having the strike team all phased into their own battle.

Also the point someone is making above about the LFG tool...both need to change prior to June for PS4 and Xbox One at least.

Honestly, this has to change for console or it defeats the purpose of releasing it.
Its the main quest lines of the story, mages and fighters guild.

EDIT: I do understand the phasing technique but if you are grouped the quest progress needs to align with the group leader....OR a prompt should somehow take everyone in the group back to the earliest point so that all progress together.

This may take a lot of programing but its one of those frustrating experiences that tend to have a bigger impact on console than it does on PC.

This reminded me; I also wish ESO had a scale system where lets say If there is two or more people doing something MOB's would scale to tougher levels or become more plentiful.

I like both, I'm an avid Tabletop RPGer and love forming up an adventuring party (part of why I personally liked Craglorn and Dungeons) but there are times when I like the more personal story of a single player game, I got those from the 1-50 and guild experiences.

The game has both elements though they can be a tad lack-luster at times, I'm hoping they fix the grouping tool before or at console launch. It might be cool if they'd change it so that when you make different choices than your friends you're not out of phase with them in certain areas.

This. I hope they know console players almost only play together. I play Destiny too, with friends only :)

I hope they realise this and make it good for console players to group.

ESO is only a good solo game from Level 1 to VR10, from VR11 to VR14 it's disaster because you really need to be in a group (and not a small one) to reach all the content.

I wonder how it will be to play as a group from Level 1 to VR 10 ;) That is my question.

Wonder if ZOS thought about the way console players play ...

ESO is good for groups overall, but there are a few quests that need to be performed solo when you are leveling. Once you DO reach the level cap, which only takes about a month of regular play in my experience, the game is massively biased in favor of group play. Trials, Arena and Veteran Dungeons either REQUIRE a group or are impossible to complete solo.
