Most trophies have some kind of animation effect. Just "use" the item from your inventory to see what happens. Note, most of the Trophy effects are better viewed from 3rd Person.

As for Spell effects and how to deal with them. Most classes have a skill that absorbs/reflects/negates magic effects. Use those. However all spell casters have tells that show you they are getting ready to cast a spell (red sparkles for one). Once you learn the timings on those, it becomes real easy to move or even roll dodge out the way of a spell just as it's cast. If you try to do it too soon, the caster can track you. Also, spells from Mobs have a distance limitation just like ours do, so backing up can help too.

Interupts can also help with spell casters, most classes and weapon skills provide a way to do that (Shield Charge in the 1H/S or the Scattershot from the Bow or Force Shock from the Destro Staff are examples). You can also Interupt with a Bash. A Bash is both Left and Right Mouse Buttons at the same time. It is also a command you can bind to a key (it is unbound by default). Some will bind it to a key, some will bind it to the Mouse Wheel Click, whatever works for you if you don't want to do the double mouse button thing. I bound it to a key as I don't always get the double mouse button thing done right. In fact i use the Q key as I moved potions to another key. This was because I would drink a potion everytime I tried to start walking somewhere....

Anyway, learn to counter, avoid, or interrupt spells and then they will never be much of a problem again.

Try quick slotting the bonesnap binding stone, by pressing Q in your inventory screen, and using when he casts his Gaze.

I don't remember using the Binding Stone in this dungeon, but maybe it's a way to complete this.

Wait, is the Bone Snap Binding Stone actually useful? I've only ever played around with using it in non-combat situations just for fun... Does that bubble actually protect you from damage and/or effects?

Flinvir's Trinket can be useful as a low level flashlight or a "HERE I AM!" for your fellow group members.

    The rest are essentially novelties.

Bone snap cannot save you, least of all from yourself.
