Why did I have to create a new character to play on the PTS?

I downloaded the PTS to try out the new updates and check out the crown store but I had to create a new character and could not access any of my other ones.
My question is, because I have logged in with this new character and now have my allotment of crowns, will they now be bound to that character?

wraith808✭✭✭✭Currently, the EU was copied onto PTS. So only those characters are available, and if you didn't have a character on the EU server, you have to use a template or wait until the next patch when they will probably flip again.
