Disguises - Not for PvP

You should not be able to wear disguises in PvP. You should be able to look at someone's armor and gain some information from that. As it relates to the Crown store, you should be able to buy cosmetic items, but there should be some limitations in which cosmetic pieces you can wear (e.g. if you are wearing a light piece of chest, you can choose cosmetic chest pieces that still look light).

    Indeed. Why?

Isn't player class and what skills players are using more telling?

Costumes are--or can be--part of strategy and group cohesion (e.g. fun, pride, guild loyalty, etc).

Judge and adapt by the skills you see being used, then kick some ass. ;)

Not going to happen. Additionally if you observe the enemy players you will gain far more info than you would by just looking at their armor. The only thing this would affect is knowing which type of armor they're sporting but the benefits are negligible at best.

Costumes allow those of us who want our character to look a certain way to do so without sacrificing a particular build we want. So no thank you to banning costumes and disguises from PvP.

I can see where the OP is coming from, but I don't see that changing really. As before, you'll have your guess as to what you're facing, based on the wpn the opponent is carrying.

You saw that wedding dress on pts crown store. You know there are going to be zerg's of wedding dresses now.

    Oh the humanity....

Unless you're doing 1v1, it's really not going to make a huge difference if you can tell what type of armor they are wearing. Even then you should be able to last long enough to infer things from their playstyle.

What if I wear a disguise because my malubeth helmet is ugly as ***? (And not because I want to hide the fact that I'm wearing this helmet)

My concern is legitimate. I want to wear these OP undaunted helmets, but I don't want to look ugly as *** while wearing them.

The only thing it's going to tell you is that it's light, medium or heavy and what style it is. You have no idea what level, what quality, what set, etc. Basically it's almost useless information and really no benefit to you at all. So like many before me....Why?

You can turn off your helmet graphic. I turn mine off to make the set I'm using less obvious. Plus I didn't design a character that shares my dashing good looks to be hidden behind some ugly helm/hood.

Not sure why it's so confusing? My suggestion is pretty clear: you should know whether someone has heavy, medium or light armor by looking at them. It influences which target you focus [Note: while armor identification doesn't really matter that much right now, I think 1.6 will make the type of armor you wear more important; i.e. light armor really will be light armor)

Now you can disagree, and there are reasons for the current system, but there is certainly logic in my argument.

I can see that the unknown is part of the game; you don't know how tanky someone is initially. That can be an interesting component to the game; but I still feel that armor shouldn't be deceiving.

I agree you should be able to wear cosmetic items, but in pvp, I feel that the cosmetic item should still resemble whether your actual piece is light, medium or heavy armor.

Omg thank you! Someone else who takes pride in how absolutely gorgeous their toon is :P

I switch between keeping my helmet on and showing my Bloodspawn helm and turning it off. I think the helmet is rather cute ^.^

Yes, it is part of the game. And it's not just the difference between armor weights. The malubeth, bloodspawn, and engine guardian sets are all very powerful in small scale combat situations. I wander around solo all the time and having a disguise is very helpful. The unsuspecting ganker will be surprised when he sees the malubeth beam go off.

I agree and disagree with this. I LOVE customs, they're a fun way to customize your toon. The issue in PVP is that you are unable to judge a toon based on their appearance (when wearing a costume) and that can be an initial disadvantage when engage that person. While that doesn't matter as much now, it will in 1.6.

Honestly whats the point of costumes if they cant be expressive? Its not gonna happen in AA/HellRa/SO. "Lets stack and DPS","but you wont see my costume :((((" or any other PVE. Its just not as expressive to see 10 jesters AFK in rawl'ka. In PVP, I'm gonna want to express my character and my costume if I choose to wear one or use it to conceal my sets (they can be ugly or I just want to keep what I use a secret #lol).

Anyways, I'm not gonna get mad if some stubby wedding dressed argonian kills me, it might give me a good laugh.
