Provisioning Dailies Do Not Match Recipes

Anyone else having any issues with their Prov dailies? I'm lvl 34 now. My prov level is 46. I'm in Eastmarch and all the recipes I'm finding are for lvl 30ish items. But my provisioning dailies are for lvl 40 recipes. I thought when I found recipes in trunks and desks, they were supposed to align to my provisioning skill level.

So right now, I'm stuck as I can't do the provisioning daily until I start finding recipes aligned with my quests.

Thoughts?

Yup I had this same problem. I was 45 and my prov was 50 and asking for V5 recipes. It was the mats I couldnt find to make them. Most guilds have a plethora of recipes on the guild stores at minimal values but the mats to make them are harder to come by.
I'm kind of a small deal!

Nope, character level is what determines Recipe Level found. So, either buy them in the Guild Stores (pretty easy actually as there are tons in the stores for cheap prices, in other words don't spend more then 25 to 50 gold on a Green). Or check with your Guild, there might be some in the bank already.

This is correct, and it also goes for provisioning ingredients that you find. All crafting writs are based on the level of item you're able to craft, however (not your crafting level - if you've got level 50 provisioning, but you've never put a skill point in it to do higher level recipes you'd be getting crafting writs asking you to make grilled capon and bog iron ale).

This can make it problematic if you're able to craft high level food, but your character level is low (as you've noticed), or if your character level is high and you're just starting to level provisioning (because the only recipes and ingredients you will find are ones that you're not skilled enough to use, and you can't become skilled enough to use them without recipes and ingredients that you can't find).

This is where you'll likely have to rely on guild banks and stores.

Incidentally, for exactly this reason we altered how recipes drop in the world and slightly altered the reward paradigm for provisioning writs for 1.6. Going forward, individuals should be much, much less likely to find themselves in MtnManC4S's situation.

Recipes in 1.6 will appear from objects in the world based on the level of the zone you find them in, so if you are generally in a level 35 zone, you should find recipes around that level. Writs produce recipes targeted to your provisioning rank.

Oh, that's good to hear! I haven't played around enough on the PTS to figure out things like the levels of recipe drops.

I was very excited to hear about this change.

Of course, the market for certain low-level recipes will crash, but that is ok...

I am so sorry I discovered this thread six days late.
On live for now - the key to the writ is that it is based on your Recipe Improvement but the recipes you farm from desks/trunks is based on toon level.

Nonetheless, if your toon is level 30-39, then your toon really only needs to eat and drink RI 3/6 food and drink.

While you are in the level 30-39 zone you will pick up RI 3/6 materials and as a level 30-39 toon you will farm RI 3/6 recipes. Thus while there you should keep your Recipe Improvement to 3/6. This is actually a useful thing to keep in mind because if you are running the RI 4/6 writ you will need to do all your deliveries in the next zone. This can become problematic for Dominion since the town that the prov writ delivery is in for 4/6 is occupied by bad guys.

You will need three food recipes and three drink recipes.
Specifically you will need all three level 30 food recipes of your faction (Horker in Covenant, Chaurus in Pact and Crawdad in Dominion). You will need both the level 30 and level 35 beer recipes of your faction (which because they are drinks I have not memorized) plus the level 30 wine of your faction (so for example Dominion is River's Ale, River Madeira and Spring Infusion)
This will change a bit as you go up in RI. There is a similar arrangement at RI 4/6 - three level 40 foods, level 40 beer, level 40 wine, level 45 beer.
However at vet1 there will only be mud crab and whatever berry is appropriate (again a drink, not memorized, sorry)
At vet5 it will be all three honey comb recipes and all three bervez fruit recipes (which are all specially gifted to require one less ingredient)

Just a thought - if your character is about level 35 when they start on provisioning how will they get low level recipes apart from buying them? The mobs in low levels won't drop any loot at all for a level 35. This change means that unless you start provisioning right from level 3 it will be really tricky to start levelling it later. Recipes should appear randomly in barrels too and all the other places ingredients are found.
