Seriously this is getting rediculous! - Boss Helm Drops

I am getting no luck what so ever in completing a boss helm set. I've got random pauldrens and a couple heads but when I try to complete a simple set like Malubeth Scourger the crazy harvester who is literally 4 mob groups into Vet Wayrest. I get nothing of any value!! Ever!? same with CoA I'm having to recruit anyone I can and walk them through this long dungeon just for like 0.1% of getting the helm!

This is the 2nd day now where I've tried farming Malubeth Helm and on both occasions all the group (aside me) have gotten a helm with the added kick in the teeth of both occasions having a group member walk away with TWO! Seriously? And this bind on pickup crap means we have no choice but to farm it!!
Unfortunately people need sleep so I'm left at the end of another night with endless counts of worthless Malubeth Stingers while the groups I try to farm with are running off with one or maybe two helms!

I know I'm a whiney *blank* but this is just frustrating me now >_<

This is why I don't even bother with Vet Dungeons or Undaunted pledges. Who needs the frustration?

I have no clue if this will work for you, or even if for me it was just coincidence... but if you are the group leader and organizing the instance through group finder tool, don't. Have someone else set it up, invite you, and then you stay on as just part of the group not the leader. Anytime I had rng issues, it was always when setting up the group but when someone else was leader I always got a good drop... not scientific but just my 2cents. Worth a shot...

I've run probably... 50 vet dungeons since the Undaunted thing was launched, and I have 5 helms and 9 pairs of shoulders... I just run the daily and hope for a shoulder, then if I get it I farm 1-3hrs for the helm and get it. Simple as that.

Yeah, no.

I've literally done nothing else with my ESO time other than dungeon farming. I do the dailies and have a few shoulders but no matching helms..

I've spent countless hours and days trying to farm the head so no, it really isn't "as simple as that" if it was then this post wouldn't exist.

Don't worry after 1.6 it will get much worse because they nerfed everyone hps, ultimate generation and crit, so half those dungeon fights just went from challenging to impossible with most groups.

The drops do need to be made somewhat easier. Ideally the system would track how often you got a certain type of loot and adjusted your odds accordingly (either in your favor or not). That being said, it's not just the helmets, but the chests too. I'm tired of getting random blank purples and blues that I will never use because I've carefully thought out my gear set.

If we're going to be tempted by anything we find in those chests they have to be enticing, either craft all new gear to tease us with finding or be prepared to drop rare sets more often. Blank weapons and armor do nothing to encourage use, they're just vendor or decon fodder.

Wouldn't kill them to do item sets from the crafting stations that were just a little less as powerful as our own crafted sets and were bind on pickup either.

And for those of us on at odd hours even trying to finish some of the vet dungeons is impossible, hard to find groups, leaving out experienced ones to finish them

I have managed to finish one set but it was 4.5 hours of hell and replacing poor dps 3 times to get there

I really want some of the sets but time to drop ratio at low pop hours makes it even more difficult, and the cost of repairs, potions and food makes it not worthwhile

I wonder if the devs will consider adding a token system? I used to love to hate the system from my previous game. There you got a reward list with most of the special loot every 20th completion. Made it less painful, even though you could be hosed by the reward list from time to time...

Some players who put in much time organizing pugs or doing guild farming runs might be against this, but let's face it, there are the unlucky few out there which the RNG simply does not favor. If a token system which allowed you to save up for that last piece of armor you needed to complete your set, but only as a last case resort, I think many could be happy with this. The more people who can get up to the gear requirements needed after the nerfs etc. the more people you have to complete the more challenging group content.

As of now it can be a challenge to find groups, a lot of players have simply given up after the 1.6 update. If we can get more players to this level it would befit many in the long run. I don't know about others, but I like to play MMO's for their social aspect, completing challenging group content, and if it's hard to get into that content to begin with this becomes a rather needless wall of discouragement for many would be contenders in this area.

@Lukeh Shadyvale I think the helmets only drop from the final dungeon bosses now, I got the medium sturdy bloodspawn helmet from the last boss in spindle couple days ago. Hopefully you will get the sets you want anytime soon!

Same here. I got The Helmet from last Boss in Spindle and Malubeths Helmet from last Boss.

I didnt have a bigger Problem with the Dropchance of the Helmets but what bothers me is that you have a Chance of 1:24 (1:x) to get the Helmet you wanna have if a Helmet drops.
The Helmets can drop in 3 Armorclasses and with all or different Traits. I would prefer if the Bosses drop Helmet Tokens which you can bring to an NPC to forge in the Armorclass and Trait you wanna have.

I know how you feel. Been hunting for all of the Ebon Set. So far after more than 50 attempts, I've ended up with only 3 ebon pieces. 3 Marubeth helms (4 actually, but I deconned one and the last 3 are all light, med and heavy). Which I'll never use. I've been hunting Ebon's Set since before the undaunted and I thought this would help with people having more incentive to do dungeons, but this is brutal.

And in all honesty it wouldn't be so bad with the current system if Bind on Pick up wasn't a thing. Someone who's been with me since the beginning to help me has gotten a piece of it I need, but cannot give it to be because it's bound to her. We hate that. Bind on equip I like. Bind on pick up? I don't quite understand why it's a thing.

Yeah, that's true drop rate is realy low.. I got scorgia head after over 30 CoA runs.. and light armor reinforced ;/
But other side.. these sets are realy strong, especially valkyn 8k free meteor is OP, so maybe they should stay rare..

I think it's adorable that you believe that if revenue slips they won't do anything and everything to get people to spend more on the cash shop just because a cpl of representatives said in a video stream that they wouldn't sell items.

I consider myself one of the more lucky ones as I managed to get the helm that I wanted the first time I ran the dungeon (Valkyn Skoria, light, divines) and the shoulders followed about a week later. But my heart really goes out to those who have terrible RNG and go weeks or months without a significant reward. It can get really discouraging in such situations.

A token system with a gear vendor would be nice. They could repurpose the Undaunted Quartermaster, which is just a plain old merchant, to actually sell specific pieces of gear. For the "currency" accepted, I suggest using the Undaunted keys themselves as tokens. My rationale:

1. Lore and flavour wise, this makes perfect sense. The keys are given out by Undaunted leaders as proof of your success, so the Quartermaster should recognise someone who has many keys as one who has done the guild many favours.
2. The keys are BOP and non-transferable. If you want the helm or shoulders, you have to earn it yourself.
3. It gives the player an interesting dilemma/choice. Do I want to save up 10 gold keys to exchange for that one piece I really want, or should I try my luck with what I have now and possibly get what I want and more?

Overall, I feel this will put a "hard cap" on the time it takes to get a gear piece and thus makes it seem less like an endless RNG grind. Which is good, of course.

It's already P2W with XP boosts coming. Expect armor, etc. in the coming years; or better yet an " increased chance to receive X type of loot" potion.

They should just make them BoE so people can trade ones they don't want for ones they want.

I think they have to do BoP for a certain % to deal with gold selling sites because they also sell equipment and if this is the case, I am all for it as this is the first company/game that I have seen totally stick it to the gold spammers!

I hear you there. We tried a CoH run to get a Helm for a Sorc. We get all the way to the last boss and it drops for two people in the group....neither of which needed or wanted it....

They really need to add an option to trade boss drops within the group while your still in the dungeon. It's a group of 4 people after all. We should be able to give it to one of them....

The trick is going in wanting something else
Like we did 5 CoH farm runs in a row to get a neck of Adroitness which did not drop but i did get a helmet of the last boss, haha. If i would have gone in wanting the helmet it would have gone the other way probably

Good thing we are so OP now after 1.6 the dungeon only takes 20 mins to run
