Cyrodiil - is it worth the hassle?

I've been trying to get into playing in Cyrodiil after reaching VR14 without doing so. I'm finding it difficult enough as I need to readjust skills and tactics to the PvP arena, but bugs and lag are making the experience painful.
I'm getting unresponsive keys, key presses that seem to vanish into the ether for some time before doing anything and well as getting killed, taking ages to work my way back across the map to where I want to be to suddenly be confronted with a seemingly random loading screen and then respawning for no apparent reason at what seems to be the further point possible from where I actually was (and a completely different respawn point to where I actually started out).
Is Cyrodiil particularly buggy and laggy, or have I just picked a bad time? I think I may head back to Craglorn!
