SHOULD Any Race in Any Alliance be in the Crown Store?

OK, this is an issue where I know how I feel on the matter, but I can totally understand the other side of the argument too, and I don't think it's unreasonable.

On the one hand, some people pre-ordered the game specifically for the explorer's pack. For many of those people the selling point was that they could play as any race in any alliance. We were told that this would not be available to anyone who didn't get the explorer pack, and we were told that only pre-ordered copies of the game were ever going to get the explorer pack. For these people, it is fairly reasonable to feel cheated if this ability now becomes available to everyone for a fee in the Crown store.

On the other hand, many people feel that anyone should be able to play any race in any alliance. From a lore perspective there's no reason why an Argonian wouldn't be living in, say, Auridon. While they may be in the minority depending on the location, there are clearly representatives of every race in every province. Aside from that, the main story provides even more justification for it, as you are essentially dropped in a random spot when escaping from Coldharbour. There's no particular reason that spot should be in the same alliance that is your character's home. Further, previous TES games allowed you to be any race, regardless of where the game was set.

So I can understand both sides of it, and I think both sides have good points. I'm just curious to do a pulse check to see how the majority of forum-goers feel about this.

By initially locking out players from any race - any faction, it creates a funnel for those races to head to specific factions. Since you can see the whole of Tamriel no matter your starting race or faction, it just becomes a question of your Cyrodiil allegiance. I appreciate that, for the most part, The PC races of a faction match the NPC races. Especially when in quest hubs.

Beyond that, if players want to give $$ to get the explorers pack (or imperial edition) that I have, sure why not.

As someone who preordered just for this, I think they should add it to the crown store. It's so fundamental to the Elder Scrolls experience, I go as far as saying it should be part of the core game. Locking it to preorders only hurts new players down the line, and now that they are going B2P, they'll need new players more than ever.

If they put it in the store for a price a year later, I still feel like I got a good deal on my preorder.

The Explorer's Pack isn't restricted to pre-orders. Retail copies of ESO also have it. ESO has been out almost a year and Wal-Mart still sells it with the Explorer's Pack.

I understand but it was advertised as a pre order bonus for PC pre Orders that way the alliances would mainly be their proper races
That which we obtain to cheap we esteem to lightly, it is dearness only that gives everything its value.

I voted yes. From the moment they began offering the imperial edition upgrade on their web store most of us knew it was only a matter of a year or so before that all races, any alliance, thing became available as well.

I personally don't consider it an 'insult' or feel cheated in any way either. It was a nice perk for pre ordering just like early access was.

I like the fact that my pre-order perk and enjoy the bonus and someone missed out, to bad. You should have pre-order. May be the next deal, one will think harder and pre-order that.

I hate my pre-order has less meaning because of people cries on the forums. They should have pre-order it. I do not want my pre-order perks be taken away!

Like who gives a *** anymore? you can still upgrade to the imperial edition and get that anyways. its not like they ever made it exclusive. whats the big deal anyways. TES has always been pretty diversified to begin with so i dont see the point to limiting it. Hell, it might balance out alliance populations. This seems more important moving forward into F2P then it did with sub fees.

The influx of players will help the health of the game regardless, a good distribution of players among the three zones will benefit everyone and why restrict people from playing their favorite races?

Just let people buy it if they wish. doesnt affect me in the slightest if they can or cant.

I'm actually a little surprised that so far the majority voting (and by far the majority commenting) are in favour of allowing this in the Crown store. I mean, that's where I stand on the issue too, but I really thought I was probably in the minority.

I'm one of those people. I also happen to strongly dislike exclusive content that isn't just cosmetic fluff. I feel that racial locks go against the spirit of TES and I'd be happy if everyone had access to the Explorer's Pack.

    My opinion;

Pre-order players should have unlimited play any race in any faction.

In the crown store should be tokens that let players have a one time use of any race in any faction. If they decide they don't like something about their character they have to level 10 to delete it and try again. Once the character they make reaches level ten it is finalized and no turning back. If they want to make more characters outside of its normal faction they must buy more tokens.

We've had it for a year. I dont see why it shouldnt open up for others. I dont expect this any time soon though as these same perks are being offered to pre-orders for Console. So I think itll for sure be there at some point.

Should it be? I don't have an opinion that.

Will it be? Probably. It's an attractive option that makes the game more Elder Scrolls-like.

    No it can't:

A 'green' post said it has never been available on ZOS web site, in reply to someone querying why the original announcement had included the EP in the Store, that 'green' went on to say it won't be in the Store for that very reason.

Why, are you predicting a mass rage-quit from people like me who bought the EP pre-order and now decide to engage in nerd-rage when everyone else has the OPTION to buy it as well?

You may be like that, I suspect most aren't.
