leveling riding skill

How many riding skill points can you level in one 24 hour period in 1.6? Right now, if I had the imperial edition, I could get 3 horses and max the three skills to 50 in 50 days. Will we be able to max all three riding skills to 60 in 60 days in 1.6, or only be allowed one a day. Thus taking 180 days to max...

Take this with a grain of salt, as I haven't been able to play on the PTS yet, but from what I've heard it's 1/day, but you can get a passive that lets you do 2/day.

It's a 20 hour cooldown. I don't know what passive UrQuan is talking about, though. There IS a perk in one of the Champion System's trees that will negate stamina costs for horses outside of combat. But, I haven't seen one that would reduce the time on leveling your riding skill.

No they did say it at one point during the Live event I believe. I am wondering if it is one of the utility bonuses that they state you will get. But I can not find any info in that either.

One of the Screen Shots of the constellation they were putting up had a choice to allow two feedings a day. Not sure if that got carried over or not to reality. It was in the Steed Line I think.

Yeah, Steed is Increased Shields, Dodge chance after rolling, healing on bash, and a damage shield on block.

Really like this addition. My imperial pack horse had butt straps and I lost control of it the first time I held down shift in town. Was a surprise to say the least.

It's still once every 20 hours, still have to go to a stable… and is character based, not account based. Really interested in that 2 per day perk, but since they max at 60 and most people that have been playing for awhile have already maxed a speed and probably a pack horse on each of their main characters, might be more for a newly created one.

Start leveling a cheap stam horse in LIVE if you can, or whatever each character(s) is/are lacking since you have at least a month at this point and it does transfer with no issues to riding skill.

I totally feel screwed over if its one point per 20 hours. People who have the imperial edition can get three points a day from now till 1.6 goes live and not even need the 2 skill perk because they will be more then halfway maxed, if not already because there horses costs 1g.......

I cannot afford two more horses to begin leveling stamina and inventory slots to prepare for 1.6. I could only afford a speed horse and max it out for cyrodill, then I moved onto other expenses. Lifes not fare, but i do not agree that it should not have to take me close to another 120 days to max my horse out since ive played since beta..

It's 1 per 20 hours of Stamina/Speed/Inventory for the Riding Skill. The passive in the CS that would've allowed to you feed a Horse twice per day isn't there on PTS. The only thing I can see with Horses is a 120pt (how since each Star only has 100 pts lol) for The Tower = No Stamina usage for Horses while outside of Combat. There's also the 120 pt in The Lover = +2% Movement Speed (doesn't specify mounted or not).

Stars unlock as you spend that number in a constellation. If you spend 120 total on one, you'll unlock that ability. It can be 30/30/30/30 or 100/20/0/0, it doesn't matter.

Except in the patch notes for 1.6 ZoS states there's ONLY 100 pts in each Star, i.e. how does one reach 120 pts. Each Star's passives are respective to the points placed in THAT Star with no bleed over from another Star. Right now you can only go 24 deep into any single point unless you've already ground out several CP to get to 26 which would tell us if there is 25 per each of 4 per Star or 30 for either 100 total points or 120.

Ignoring the patch notes for a second, I've actually messed around with the system on PTS.

Those stars unlock when that number of point is invested in the constellation. There are 8 stars in each constellation, four of those you can put points in. The other four unlock when you've spent sufficient points anywhere in that constellation. So, if you put five points in two of the stars, you'll get the 10 point perk (I've actually done this). If you spend 30 points in each, you will unlock the 120 point perk (I haven't tested this personally, but that's how the system works.)

Indeed, I've spent hours playing with the Champion System on PTS with all 8 Characters and I'm fully aware of how the Passives unlock. My point is, that the patch notes and all previous comments made since the Live show that they reduced the overall system to be 100 points per Star make it impossible to reach 120 points. This either means that the listed 120 points for the 4th Tier Passive is incorrect on PTS or they added 20 points per Star and the Patch notes are incorrect. Either way they messed up somewhere as there is a discrepancy between the 100 stated maximum per Star and the 4th Tier saying it requires 120 on PTS.

As I stated above that Passive is not in the Champion System as it is right now on PTS. Either ZoS changed their mind or it's an oversight.

The first thing I did after playing around on the PTS was go back to live and bought more 1g horses for all my characters. We did pay extra for the imperial edition, we might as well take advantage of the situation while it lasts.

Let's take for example, The Apprentice constellation. (and this is from my understanding),

You can spend maximum 100 points per star (so Blessed, Elfborn, Spell Erosion, and Elemental Expert). So that is 400 points allowable maximum. The other four passives unlock at 10, 30, 75, and 120. That means that once you max Blessed, for example, that is 100 points already spent. You can then spend 20 more to the other stars that is not maxed - therefore you used up 120 points, and the 120 point passive will unlock in that constellation.

(can someone verify this? Again, it's my understanding, so i may be wrong)

Right now, no. No one has the requisite 360 CP to verify. It's possible once we do get there, it will be bugged because no one had enough points to verify.

Someone might hit that during the 1.6 beta, but I'd be genuinely surprised. I think right now the most anyone can have is 23 points. If someone's grinding up another Vet to 14, that would get to 75... if someone's ground up two vet 1 - 14s in the beta so far, they'd know.

This is incorrect. The Passives are based on EACH Star and only the points in that Star. I have on PTS right now all 70 pts which is 24/23/23. I will give an example specifically so you understand how PTS is working.
    • The Lover: I have 13 points in it and have Fortune Seeker unlocked (the 10pt Passive)
    • The Shadow: I have 10 points in it and have Plentiful Harvest unlocked (the 10 pt Passive).
    • The Tower: I have 0 points in it and have nothing unlocked (not even the 10 pt Passive).

All of the above are in the same Constellation (Thief)
    • The Lord: I have all 24 points in it and have Combat Medic unlocked (the 10 pt Passive).
    • The Lady: I have 0 points in it and nothing unlocked.
    • The Steed: I have 0 points in it and nothing unlocked.
All of the above are in the same Constellation (Warrior)

Each Star (Lover, Shadow, etc) has it's own exclusive Passives that only unlock when enough points in that very Star are spent. Each Constellation has 3 Stars that each have 4 unlockable Passives and 4 that you spend points in. You gain 1 point in whichever Constellation is up when you gain 1 CP. Since we have 24/23/23 that means that the Warrior (24) will be rotated out and you will be working on The Thief Constellation for your 71st point ,then The Mage for your 72nd point, etc=. You can see this if you hover over the new bar under your Character bar in the top left of your screen.

Okay, with respect, there are so many things wrong with this, let's just use the magic of screenshots...

    This is the Lord:

    3183510D91A6A38237B1469E26F1BE3F900429D0

It's one of the classic constellations from The Elder Scrolls. You've probably seen it as a standing stone even if you haven't taken it. As you can see there are eight stars in The Lord. All nine Constellations or Signs or whatevers are branded the same way, and configured with the same number.

Those stars with + and - next to them can be improved with points. Here's what happens if you spend five points in The Lord:

    8C3A330CB60F549C311AF6212612DC36A39C7866

Each of those stars should be able to go to 100.

This is what happens when you add five more to Heavy Armor Focus:

    559AC5ED5EEA8FB2746A790632D0BD2425166FA5

Notice how Combat Medic is now highlighted? That's unlocked. But, what if we don't want 10 points in Heavy Armor Focus, what happens if we put 5 in Heavy Armor Focus and 5 in Nourishing?

    21F45EF5F8920ECE42D1875F347AB7417E4A9386

See how Combat Medic is still highlighted? By the way, removing points will not let you keep it.

So, ten points spent in The Lord split across two separate stars still gives you Combat Medic.

But, statistically, stars give the best bonus with their first point or two... so... what happens if we spread them out thinly?

    85D76C597A6B760ADAC843BD42FA970BA93C994F

Well, Combat Medic is still available. Knock a point off and it would be gone.

So, the way the system works, if you put 30 points into each star, the 120 should unlock.

Also, a star is a single glowing ball of holy-crap-it-burns in the sky. A constellation is a collection of holy-crap-it-burns in the sky. One ohgoditburnsmakeitsopt cannot be "a constellation."

The first thing I did after playing around on the PTS was go back to live and bought more 1g horses for all my characters. We did pay extra for the imperial edition, we might as well take advantage of the situation while it lasts.

Dare I say it... buy to win? If i bought more horses, I would have to spend over 24k on just the horses... not 2g... There needs to be a faster way to lvl to max level then in 120 days in real time. What is this, Eve online?

I smite thee for using Eve's name in vain. This is an MMO, EVERYTHING is supposed to take time.

If it was EVE Online, your horses would have rebelled and started their own fiefdom, consuming the contents of your bank. Then you would have been mugged by a Khajiiti Werepire Dragon Knight.
