PVP arena?

I am sure that I am not the first person to suggest this. So I apologize already. Has ANYONE actually gone to cyrodil to have fun PVPing? The mobs are so big that it's basically just following a dust cloud to another dust cloud, and seeing which dust cloud can dust cloud better than the other dust clouds.

The only time I had real excitement in cyrodil was this one random shot I got to go 1V1 with a player real close to my level. It was a very close match, either one of us could have won (Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, after 5 minutes someone showed up and helped me win). We NEED an arena that allows us to fight other players 1V1, either randomly, or by grouping together and entering the arena to get matched up with each other. We also NEED an arena for 4V4. I've often wondered if my pledge group could take on other pledge groups.

Also (again), I would LIKE to see an area to watch these fights, to bet on these fights. And it would be SUUUUUPER awesome if the combatants could wager things against each other.

Yes, and it may happen eventually, but it's going to be a while. I'd settle for a simple friendly duel system.

Yes, it does not even have to be an arena. It could be as simple as an invitation to duel someone. They accept, you get 30 seconds to prepare, then the duel starts!

That would be so much easier to code probably!

They were showing off an arena at Pax a few months ago. I haven't seen or heard about it since.

The real reason why we don't have an arena is probably that the devs don't have the time and/or competence to balance the classes and builds.

PVPers are the most demanding in terms of balance issues (or, in other words, the most whiny). Put in 1v1 arena and you'll have people coming to the forums complaining that their "play as you want" glass cannon sniper can't stand up in 1v1 against a tanky guy with a shield.

This! and the option to duel your same alliance as well as enemy alliance.

I would love a Gaiden Shinji inspired gladiatorial arena to fight in. I actually like Cyrodiil just the way it is, but smaller skirmish battles would be fun if you just want a little burst action. I think perhaps the rewards, and maybe its own skill line should be worthwhile and unique. I'd love to see events that could allow for 1v1, 2v2, and 4v4 type battles, preferably with features in the Arena to make things interesting.

One other benefit of having a proper arena is that players could feasibly test powers without interrupted.

PvP in Cyrodil was great fun for me when I first tried it. Even though I am not that good at PvP, and thus got mashed intot he dirt all the time. But... after a while, one would enjoy some varietee.

Arena combat might serve for that. I could easily see a new zone on a lawless island where people proud of their martial prowess can go to compete in arena fights for gold and glory... from single duels (forget balancing, enter by choice at your own risk) to the MMO-usual group fights, capture the flag, elimination fight, whatever. (pity they can't do fantasy themed rugby without a certain game company warming up their lawyers... )

Duelling options might help bring some varietee as well. Justice system PvP part probably will at that too. Both could be combined... duelling could be illegal in some locations, allowed in others... thus anyone having their duel(s) on noon behind the mournhold temple might find themselves confronted by the temple ordinators similar to a scene in a certain classic work of literature

ESO desperately needs something competitive for PvP to attract more players. I know I played WoW and LoL for days just because of the competitive PvP. Huge Zergs and mindless skirmishes do not count as competitive PvP. As a MMO you need competitive gameplay.

I wish the game has some kind of the competitive PvP. I have quit playing because of PvP content that ESO provide. I believe that they promised they will add arenas when player will demand it... I purchased the game in pre-order when it was betha and I used to believe this game will hook me for years

I wanted only to check out forums and see if that changes. I loved this game , but I love competition and PvP, so I quit.

I do not play ESO currently, but as I know lot of people quit this game because of lack of true PvP.
I'm just letting you know that some players are willing to come back to ESO to do some arenas.

ESO's combat system is not suitable like arena style pvp . ESO mostly supports group fightings.Also i knew there are really good pvp players for single combat.But honestly you can't make it , don't try.Single pvp combat needs too much pvp experience and fast making decisions.

Can we just have a massive dragon boss spawn in Cyrodiil and engulf the battlefield in fire? Flying everywhere taking out zergs and such.

i am quite surprised that (appearently) zen never got the idea of adding some sort of structured pvp,
specially since there is a fighters guild in every town.
(sparing with each other every day for training... ringing any bells?)

adding structured pvp would not only attract alot of small-scale pvp players,
but also better feedback for zen about abilities and their behaviour,
since it can be tested more properly.

also, beeing able to duell with your friends and foes of your own alliance is a big plus why this should become reality.
(hopefully soon)

Battlegrounds/arena's and all that will be discussed next year according to eso live.

Not that many people will bother to wait that long.

Couldn't find any up to date thread. And arenas was on the way over two years (maybe I'm wrong, but i thought they said that before releasing betha) ....

Well no, because if you are a sniper glass canon build you can take out a tank in a 1v1 with a nicely timed burst. And after all PvP in ESO is all about timing. Its a waiting game, but in the end burst will most likely win. Aaaand perma blockers are easy to deal with anyway, just light attack their stamina out, then CC and you've got yourself some AP/Tel Vars
