OMG Fire damage mobs

Ok these are my most hated types of mobs. In every mmo i've played. And its worse in those early level's where you take so much DOT. I would love it in a future patch if it can be turned down just a little. Dealing with 2 sharpshooters at once is a beast. And my volley doesn't do nearly that much damage to mobs. And yes i'm dodging but not good enough i guess.

Just in case you don't already know; as well as dodging, you can also block (with any weapon), as well as interrupt various enemy's attacks and counter. Learning to effectively, block, interrupt, counter, and dodge are arguably the most important skills you will have at your disposal in the game.

For fire mitigation, I don't really know much of the finer points of your character; but perhaps try improving your armour/spell resistance to you can handle a little more fire. If need be there are also glyphs able to be made that improve your fire resistance too.

I guess since you play a bow, you use Medium Armor. This Armor is very squishy against Magic Attacks.
On my Nightblade i put a Spell Resistence Glyph on the necklace. That helped a lot.

Also depending on the Class you play, there are also some tools that could help you.
Other than that, Rev Rielle above me was spot on.

I believe you, @Castagere, are a Templar, yes? If so you have some very handy skills in your Restoring Light class skill line that can help, both heal and boost your resistances.
If you can be anything, be kind.

Most fire spells you can dodge or get away from. When you see the circle of flames around the caster complete, move as they have fixed the target vector. With the ones that cast the two circles of fire, just move out of the red.

Even if you miss this, you can usually dodge roll out of the way of the flame spell that is coming at you.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Interrupt is your friend...using a bow you have a knockback/stun skill called scatter shot. Also in bow skill line is poison arrow, the morph venom arrow also interrupts casters. Use them both.

Dodging can be a bit hit and miss at times.

Are you trying to interrupt the casters when you see the 'red sparks' animation at the time the mob begins to cast the spell? Just like the 'yellow sparks' tells you you're about to get hit with a physical attack that'll CC you, the 'red sparks' is your warning about a spell caster.

In most cases you're far more likely not to take damage if you interrupt the cast than you are if you try to run/roll out of the way.

Healers are worse, you whittle down an opponent, and the healer heals them.

    Priority order for killing
    1. Healers
    2. Archers
    3. Other ranged attackers (staff users)
    4. Everything else.

The fire mobs are okay, and certainly have their place. I'd like to see the other elemental attacks (NPC and PC side) have equal ferocity, though.

Too much emphasis on fire as it is, no real fear of the other elements.

Personally I find the ice mobs to be more of a pain to fight.

The fire ones send out high damage, but easily avoided attacks (the 2 AOEs attack, and the slow fixed-vector attack). I just get out of the way of them (rarely do I even have to dodge-roll to do so), and they don't concern me.

The ice mobs, OTOH, are a real pain to kill at range, as they always drop those defensive ice walls that absorb your ranged attacks. You either have to have a ranged attack that won't get pulled into the ice wall (like an AOE), or you have to close to fight them in melee, or you just have to send attacks at the ice wall and destroy it first. This is particularly irritating when the ice wall is right by another mob that is a higher priority for you to target and kill quickly anyway (like a healer).

Not that I'm complaining about ice mobs being OP or anything, I just find that they provide more of a challenge than fire mobs. At least, in a group of mobs they do. Any mob by itself is no challenge at all unless it's significantly higher in level than you. And if you're not a "rush into melee with everything" build. If you are, then they don't provide any more challenge than fire mobs.

Or just stay ranged and walk around the other side of the ice barrier...

Knock back works too, the ice mage will not return to the safety of the barrier once dislocated.

True, but that doesn't work so well if you're constrained by the terrain... There are definitely ways to deal with them, I just find that they take more effort to deal with than fire mobs.
