Cyrodill performance issues

Big siege situations is Cyrodill are showing up some major performance issues with my system; frame rates are dropping to almost unplayable levels and everything and everything's jumping around and jerking terribly.
I've got a first generation i5 720 and a GTX760 graphics card; hardly cutting edge but equally well above the minimum recommended specs.
What's likely to be causing these issues (I am aware that TESO isn't very multi-core aware).
I have toyed upgrading my mobo and processor to a fifth generation i5 but I'm not sure if that would make a huge difference as the clock rate jump isn't massive.

✭You need to turn your graphics down to medium or lower. Also, make sure your particle slider is all the way to the left (minimum settings).1 -

✭✭✭✭✭I can't even find the i5 720 anywhere on the web. Are you sure you got the number right?
Anyway I also have the GTX 760 but I have an i5 4670K and have yet to have any issues in Cyrodil at all.
If you meant i5 750 then the 4670K scores about 2.5x faster on Passmark ( I have mine OC'd to 4.2 GHZ, which s the minimum overclock you can get without really trying.)0 -

I only get them in Cyrodill. Over the space of a 2-3 hour session, I might get around 3-4 random crashes. Nothing in particular i.e. start of a battle brings it on, it just seems extremely random. However, playing PvE this very rarely happens.0 -

yeah I know what you're talking about. that was one of the things I hated about trying to get all the PvE out of the way in CyrodiilThat which we obtain to cheap we esteem to lightly, it is dearness only that gives everything its value.
