I talked to some guildies tonight and they said that ESO should look at implementing a system like this :
Each run of let's say Hel Ra you do rewards you a token. There is a shop in the game where you can redeem the tokens for specific gear. So that single piece gear you want is going to cost you 30 tokens. I think it could be an interesting answer to this games really really bad RNG. Thoughts ? @Gina_Bruno

Oh god no, I've been through that with swtor's PVP gear, by the time you've earned enough tokens you could have picked up several sets through RNG.

The token system is nice in theory, but people grind it, so they have to balance against them, and the rest of us suffer.

Need/Greed would've been the best option for raid content & possibly DSAV.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if you're able to pick up tokens soon.

The Need/Greed system is great for raid loot.

The Need/Greed system is great for raid loot.

There's zero chance it'll be implemented in the game anymore.

Need/Greed would mean less grinding & frustration, and thus less possible Cash Shop options & ways to make money.

No greedy company says no to money.

Unless they make Need/Greed unlockable through Cash Shop.

I would prefer a token system where the token is given to a crafter (in the trade window) to build the piece of equipment the player wants.

Yes please, It's the only way for me to try out new gear sets and figure out fun builds around them.

In literally everyone MMO I ever played I always had to depend on token currencies to barter 90% of my gear, since rng hates my guts. Clearing every daily and weekly dungeon and raid for half a year and I would still be looking at 0 loot.

There's of course need/greed or guilds having their own way to distribute. That works slightly better for people with no luck, but comes with other issues like endless drama, favoritism, scams and bad attitude.

That's why I love tokens. No drama, never let's you down.

But in ESO I cant trade, meaning no realistic way to obtain unique sets or weapons, regardless of effort. It's really not about the quality of gear either, I mean nothing is particularly "OP" in ESO so what's the harm in making stuff more obtainable? It's rather about fun or lack of it for me. Never being able to try out certain sets, makes gaming less enjoyable.

No tokens available in store...just a system where I do 30 trials or SO runs and don't get the gear I want I can use tokens to get gear....that is bind on purchase with the token. The RNG in this game is really really terrible.

I'd just prefer them making this game a crafting-focused system.

Have certain set crafting locations that, rather than requiring a stupid amount of researched traits (because researching in this game is the worst crafting grind I've ever seen, nothing but a subscription time and money sink), these set crafting locations would require certain materials only gathered through those raids or pvp.

So for example you'd have the "set of awesome eliteness", which is made at a crafting station in whatever location. The crafting station requires that you have 6 traits (because 6 is obtainable by normal players, 8-9 just becomes asinine) and for each piece of gear you need 1 elitestone, which is gathered as a drop from bosses. Every boss you kill in a certain raid rewards one elitestone to every player in the group, so for a full set of gear you're only looking at 7-9 boss kills.

Totally agree, the RNG-gated random drops are a crime against gamers, where 4/5/6/whatever players go into an instance, all make a contribution but usually only one or two of them actually gets anything the need from it the rest get nothing.

I really hope not. Umpteen different kinds of token made life in LOTRO very difficult. All that happened was that people would pick the easiest skirmish or instance and grind it for tokens again and again.

How many time in those six years of LOTRO did I run the Grand Stairs? Far too many to count ...

It made it hard to get a group for any other instance at all.

IMHO tokens aren't so bad. In DDO (Dungeons and Dragons Online) there were a place with three dragons. Killing each dropped scales of their colour. You could bring the scales to armorsmith and buy an armot suitable for your build. It took thirtysome runs. And with their excellent LFM tool making groups was quick.

Any old MMO needs daily routines and tokens fit well to that. Undaunted helmets can still RNG drop from bosses but maybe we could collect a chip for their shoulder? With a dozen chips we could craft the shoulder with desired type and trait. One random is OK but twice random is bad.
