Is the VR system now going to be removed in 1.6.x?

I wish that had been answered in the Reddit Q&A but it wasn't as far as I can tell.
Since 1.6 is the last 1.x before the console launch (and on a side note, why not just call it 2.0 with all the changes?) is the VR system going to be with us for a while still or is the plan now to remove it in one of the minor 1.6.x updates?
It seems to me that whatever happens with our system, the consoles can launch with CP and not VR since it's not a change for them.
But there was also mention that Cyrodiil will be getting VR13 and VR14 gear in 1.6 And there is also that account copy and transfer to console deal for $20 which, if the VR is not removed in 1.6, will mean some VR characters in the consoles.
So... what's the deal?
