Cash shop do's and don't's

1. NO LOTTERY BOXES. Don't you DARE start selling an expensive pack of mystery stuff that is the ONLY way I MIGHT get a single item I want. I will KEEL YOU! lol Seriously though, don't do it.

2. Sell EVERYTHING individually. Do NOT sell ONLY "packs" of things. For example, the Explorers Costumes pack. Say I only want ONE of those costumes. Don't MAKE me buy all three. Sure, offer a discount on buying all three together but ALSO offer each costume individually.

3. Put a barber shop IN THE GAME. Do NOT make me BUY the "privilege" of changing my character's hairstyle or makeup. Make this a feature of your premium subscription model. Make the "free" players buy new hairstyles and makeup, scars and tattoos individually.

4. If you make player housing DLC I still EXPECT to be able to take every member of my group INTO my house regardless of their membership plan.

5. DO sell new individual Dye colors.

6. DO sell name changes but make them account wide. That means I get 8 per purchase. And if I want to use all 8 on ONE character over the course of time, so be it.

7. DO sell the ability to return to the character creation screen and make is so I can change EVERYTHING about a character with the exception of race and class. Again, account wide, so I get 8 trips to the character gen screen. And while you're at it... IMPROVE THE LIGHTING IN CHARACTER GENERATION!!! Make it exactly the same lighting/backdrop that you get at the character selection screen when you log in and decide which of your characters you are going to play. You KNOW you screwed this up. Take the time to FIX it.

    1) They're fine, don't buy them if you don't want to.

    2) Fluff isn't needed to play the game, how it's packaged doesn't bother me in the slightest, chances are I won't be buying it.

    3) No 'need' for a barber shop at all, seems to be a great bit of fluff to raise cash from those who didn't think before they rolled their character.

    4) No idea why you even mention housing.

    5) Dyes are fine Store exclusives, there are far more available already than anyone could reasonably need so yeah, a fine revenue-generating item.

    6) Greedy much? In any case, I view this as (3).

    7) More greed? One-off purchases are the way to go, all other games I play do that and it's fine.

If we have to have a cash shop, at least it should be done right. I agree with some parts of your post. But 8 name changes or 8 face changes is too much. 1 per sale. Want 2? Buy 2 times.

I don't sure should ZOS make all dyes sellable or not. Like if you don't want to do trials or pvp or another faction quests or whatever else you don't miss this colors. What do you think? As for me - it's fine if ZOS make all dyes available for all.

Also, it would be nice to buy mounts account wide like palomino horse or imperial horse.

    1) They're fine, don't buy them if you don't want to.

No, they're NOT fine. It's a terrible ploy to rip off their customers. It's the primary reason I don't play TOR anymore. It's darn near classic bait and switch. It's ugly.
    2) Fluff isn't needed to play the game, how it's packaged doesn't bother me in the slightest, chances are I won't be buying it.

Unless, of course, you're a roleplayer. You don't have to do PvP to play the game either and as I only PvP as an occasional thing I probably wouldn't buy things designed FOR PvPers. But that still doesn't mean that I don't care and that I don't mind of that player segment gets ripped off or treated unfairly.
    3) No 'need' for a barber shop at all, seems to be a great bit of fluff to raise cash from those who didn't think before they rolled their character.

Again, YOU don't need it. So what? Others do.
    4) No idea why you even mention housing.
Ummm...because it's a TES staple and is bound to be introduced at some point? And now, when it is, you KNOW it's going to be via the cash shop/DLC.
    5) Dyes are fine Store exclusives, there are far more available already than anyone could reasonably need so yeah, a fine revenue-generating item.
At last you're being reasonable. Dyes don't affect gameplay. They should totally be available for purchase.

    6) Greedy much? In any case, I view this as (3).

    7) More greed? One-off purchases are the way to go, all other games I play do that and it's fine.

Oh I KNOW they're going to gouge us per individual character on this. It should still be account wide. Which means 8.

If they sell the dyes then they should sell the achieves that earn them too

Nah. And I expect the achievement dyes to remain unavailable except to those who have actually done the achievements. And even though I truly believe dyes should NEVER have been tied to achievements I'm okay with that remaining as it is. What I DO want are NEW colors available for purchase. They may be similar to the achievement dyes (ye gods how I yearn for a decent clear RED) and there's probably no help for that...but dyes totally NEED to be in the store.

Lottery Boxes will be the biggest temptation by far for ZoS. They are a huge money maker for cash shop mmo's especially when they give you a chance at a rare cosmetic that is only available in the lottery box.

They are also a shady workaround to most gambling laws. You have to buy "fake currency" (crowns) to "buy" the boxes so technically you are just "playing a game" and not gambling.

Shady. I hate them on principle.

Of all of the things I listed, this is by far the most important to me. If they do it, I will never be able to view anyone in this company as anything other than lowlife scum ever again. It's a despicable practice. Utterly loathsome. I REALLY hope they get that message loud and clear from the players.

I see what your saying but it seems like dyes will open a can of worms, maybe they should just pull dyes off of achieves and sell each color for 500 crowns each.. People would pay it

I can hear it too and I would be miffed myself because of all the Achievement hunting I have been doing, but honestly I don't think for a second that would bother Zeni besides it would be a great cashflow fora "Cosmetic only" Shop.

Also, if they're smart, they'll make it so that we can gift specific items from the shop to other players. People like to both give and get presents. And as long as they stick to their promise that these store items will be account bound and cannot work their way into the game economy this could actually be a pretty nice boon to us and a huge cash cow to them.

.... Waits for the hysterical laughter over the idea of ZOS keeping their word.

I'm concerned, players can also buy a PvE God-mode at the shop - if they then get bored to death, that's their own business.

Yes it is, otherwise we would all still be playing PnP
