Undaunted Keys

Okay so im not a huge PVE person but I have completed a trial on hardmode and you get a chest from the NPC, open it and receive gear.
But with the undaunted update they added chests that you walk up to and use a key, does this mean you can buy keys with crowns and open the chest?
(Its just weird that they would change the way things work and do keys instead of chests + they went BTP)
Will keys for undaunted be up for purchase with crowns at some point?

oh I'm sure it's going to happen eventually.That which we obtain to cheap we esteem to lightly, it is dearness only that gives everything its value.
