Is grinding still viable?

As the title says, is grinding still at least equal to questing in terms of leveling efficiency? I much prefer grinding to questing and am currently following this guide: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=288937648 but some people from my guild mentioned that grinding had been nerfed and I should quest. Is this the case?

For levels 1-50, nothing has changed since that article was written.

For vet ranks 1-14, the traditional grind spots in craglorn are no longer viable. There are other grind spots tho.

spellscar is still plenty viable from vr1-14, but your AOE game needs to be strong.

If by "Viable" you mean will you level faster than questing? Nope.

Well, the article says that it is faster than questing if done properly. I am not looking for faster necessarily, but at least equal. Are you just disagreeing with the article that it is faster, or has something changed to make questing faster?

Every time a grind spot where leveling is faster than questing is identified, they fix it. Nobody will tell you where any more existing grind spots are located anywhere within ear shot of ZOS's forums where they could hear about it and fix it. You are better off just doing the quests or seeking grinding on your own.

The first reply was that nothing has changed since that article was written - but you are saying that the grind spots have been fixed. Now I'm just confused haha

I am mainly talking about 1 to 50 at the moment if that helps clarify as I'm just starting out and am only level 6

Umm yeah. Yeah it is. On my VR 7 character in a VR 7 zone, I found a mob that respawned quickly and ground for around 3 hours and got about 300k XP. Next night, felt like mixing it up and did just objective quests and main quests for about 3 hours and I got around 200k. I could pace the questing a bit closer when doing quests that were thick with mobs to kill (grinding while questing) but a lot of them were running house to house, or catching rats and that sort of thing.

This was not balls to the wall, hurry, hurry hurry type play as both times, I was sipping a beer and had about equal amount of times with pauses.

    EDIT: Oh for non-vet; absolutely.

It is, it starts slow but you get momentum really quick, at least if you go full dps (and then respec at vr if you dont want to be a dps).

Currently steamrolling everything 10 levels higher than my char with a crit/stamina stack build

I guess it is your perception of grinding. I personally prefer questing even if I have done the zone before. However I know someone who just goes throughout the zone killing things and runs each delve 3 times. He levels much faster then I do playing the game in a way he enjoys. I think that is the key focus on the journey not so much the destination.

Okay, thanks for the feedback everyone! I am going to assume now that grinding is at least equal to questing, especially if I follow the guide I listed from 1 to 50 while focusing on AoE DPS specs and minimizing down time.

I have always loved grinding in games to level as it seems much more relaxing - I can sit around, have a drink, listen to music, and not worry about running around from spot to spot so much. I know everyone doesn't like that play style but for me it's fun!

    Thanks for the help everyone!
