ok so I will start with "we told you it was coming" and move on to some bigger concerns other than yet another deception for Zos. I really didn't want to see the game go this way but now that it has some important questions will arise I believe need addressed.
1. Since its b2p not f2p its ok right? NO!! the difference is that B2P you have to pay for the game and any content that they deem fit. In truth B2p is almost worse in the fact that as you move along you will see less people in DLC zones as they don't want to pay for it then you would in a F2p, thus making those who already starve for groups even more at a loss.
2.As long as the crown store is just the pots and costumes it will be fine yes?
NO!! crown store is a CASH store and as such by nature of the beast its there to generate CASH. Expect to find less in game dedication and more development spent into what can be sold to make a profit. If you pay attention to the twitter cast they make a big point to say that there is a grey area and you should expect it to be crossed. Also they did say that there will be armor sets sold but not as good as those that can be crafted. Do you trust them to decide based on their internal tests what top dps players use? Doesn't seem to have worked so far.
3.Console players will make up for the loss of any pc players that leave right?
Probably not. I imagine a large amount of players will have issue with this transition and as we saw with the champ point issue when the main body of hardcore players didn't agree with the change and left it was a big enough impact for a redirect of that system and this to some will just be the last push they needed. If the impact was that large then what effect do foresee.
4.They said in the twitter that this revenue change was a result of what the player base wanted so the impact will be small? I would have to go back thru the forums to find these elusive posts in the number that it seems they are implying that would lead them to this choice but I have not seen them yet.
5.The ESO fans are so many that this wont be an issue? In the words of molag ball "TELL YOURSELF ANOTHER LIE". A lot of games with huge fan base have fallen before and Star Trek and Star Wars are solid examples of this, Eso has not the fan base of either of those regardless of what you may think or your personal feeling towards any of the 3 are.
To sum it up I will say that "IF" they can keep the armor, weps and anything that is directly used in game out of it besides pets/mounts then it will have a chance but I imagine it will not be to long before you see things like mount achievements or collection achievements requiring the players who seek that sort of goal to pay. A cash store should be simple vanity and if it has any link to any form of achievements ,dyes, armor, weps or any such thing then it is PAY TO WIN.
Also the creation of a ZOS sponsored thread of crown store wish list would seem abit on the tell me what your willing to pay for.
