Subscribed players (ESO Plus) will get DLC expansions for free. Players who buy the game, but don't have a subscription, will have to buy the DLC.

The way I read I is that you'll only have access to the DLC if you are subbed to the ESO Plus.

DLC in ESO terms means Zones... Orsinium, Murkmire etc. are Downloadable Content which will be acquired one of two ways.

If your an ESO+ member which is basically if you choose to continue to pay the subsscription fee AFTER the game goes B2P, you will get all new zones and the items/quests that come with it for for no-extra costs.

If you're not an ESO+ member then it will be something you'll have to purchase for a fee which I'd imagine for a zone be around £15 that was avg. amount DLC's costed for games on X360.

ok, thanks. Since i returned in december on eso, can you (or someone else) tell me what are the expansions (as of today)? and also another question: once your subscription ends, will you lose the dlcs you already played? or the zones will remain and you won't be able to play the new ones?

Here are the likely DLC content packs based on previous announcements and today's ESO Live show:

    Wrothgar (Orsinium)
    Clockwork
    Mephala's Realm
    Imperial City
    Murkmire

As long as you are a PC player and an ESO Plus subscriber, you can play all of the DLC at no extra cost beyond ESO Plus. If you stop being an ESO Plus subscriber, you can no longer play the DLC unless you purchase it with cash/credit card or with crowns you receive with your ESO Plus subscription. Once purchased, you can play the DLC even if you are not an ESO Plus subscriber.

Basically, nothing about the game and its updates will change if you are an ESO Plus subscriber. If you intend to stop subscribing, you should save your crowns if you want to play future DLC without spending more cash.

Someone said Clockwork ? as in Clockwork City ? It's gonna be awkward seeing myself in the game.

what i'm interested in is if we will be able to play ESO on consoles within PC subscription? New chars, new account for all i care but if access will remain limited to PC within PC subscription?
This new game model screams for shared subscription.

So far Craglorn would technically be the only "expansion" Pre-Eso+ they were just updates. But Orsinium is one of the DLCs which will be released soon.

So they will only be classed as DLC on March 17th.
I imagine all Zones you paid for whether through ESO+ or direct payment you will keep indefinitely.
I was a "founding" member of Call of Duty Elite when Modern Warfare 3 came out which was a monthly subscription but you got a new map each month where as the DLCs would be released still every 4 months which bundled 4 maps together for people who wanted to keep paying for DLC individually.

I still have access to that DLC even though Elite flopped quickly.

Yeah, they teased shots of The Clockwork City in the Twitch stream. It looked really snazzy, too.

I am not sure what that means, Will you still have access to the DLC that was released during an active ESO Plus Membership, if you cancel you Membership a couple of months later?

No, but any items you obtained from doing that DLC content will still be in your inventory.

Basically being an ESO+ subscriber gives you access to all DLC while you are subscribed, and also gives you crowns for your subscription. As soon as you stop subscribing you lose access to any DLC, but if you didn't spend your subscription crowns on other items, you can always buy the DLC with your crowns once you've stopped subscribing anyway (assuming you want to do so).

yeah was curious about this too.

What if I go non-ESO+. DLC comes out, I go ESO+ for a month, then go back to DLC...do I get the DLC?

Or in other words, how much will each DLC be? $20?

I keep wondering why I am paying the $15...other than to get faster CPs and to level 2H up faster.

You're paying it for the crowns. Everything else is just a small bonus thrown in. If you're not going to use the crowns that the ESO+ membership gives you, then it doesn't make sense to subscribe. If you're going to use that many crowns anyway, then it doesn't make much sense not to subscribe.

Except that crowns are cheaper when bought in crown packs.

    spend $80 on ESO+, get 9000 Crowns
spend $80 on Crown Packs, get 11000 Crowns
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.

No, as it stands now, if you unsub you lose access to the DLC unless you purchased it.

Which leads to one of the reasons many of us have decided the sub isn't worth it. Why should I pay every month for a few tiny boosts? I'll just wait until they actually provide some new playable content, then sub for a month and check it out. If it has any replayability or something else to make it worth it, I'll just buy it outright. If not, then I'll unsub again and wait for the next one.

As far as DLC costs go...no one knows yet.

You can of course use the crowns you get monthly as a ESO+ subscriber to purchase the DLC while you are subbed if you have nothing else to spend them on, that way if you ever do cancel your sub you with still have access to the DLC you have purchased

Maybe US prices are different from Canadian prices, because that's not how the difference works out in CAD.

In CAD at the maximum bulk purchase $1 spent on crown packs will get you 110 crowns, while $1 spent on a subscription will get you 94 crowns. So yeah, it's cheaper to buy the biggest bulk packs of crowns, but not by very much, and for people who aren't buying the biggest pack at a time the difference is much less (when you're buying 1500 crowns at a time, it's the exact same price to subscribe).

So really, unless you're buying a ton of crowns, it doesn't make much sense not to subscribe.

And if you're not going to currently be spending 1500 crowns per month, then that's absolutely what makes the most sense. When the DLC comes out and you subscribe, you're not risking a whole heck of a lot, because you'll get 1500 crowns for your month's subscription, and if you like the DLC you can put that towards buying it outright. If you don't think it's worth buying, then just hang on to those crowns until something comes out that you think is worth spending them on.

There are no expansions or DLC for ESO at this moment. Once you stop subscribing your rent on those DLC expires and it will be like you never had them except for any gear or styles you learned from them. Those will still be available.

Unless additional levels/skills/abilities are built into the DLC/expansion? Think other MMO expansions where those were implemented. And it makes sense to provide the expansion at a single, one-time purchase if those are prime aspects of the content update.

The DLC zones have been confirmed that they will be scaleable content probably via some form of battle leveling to bring you up to level. Similar to what happens in Cyrodiil.
