Why doesn't the launcher have an option to close it when you launch the game?

Is there an advantage to leaving it open? Will it auto-update the game if it is open all the time?

Since there is a second or two of delay between clicking the launcher's "play" button and the game window opening, I just click the 'X' button in the upper right corner of the launcher.

I just leave mine open. It's always open on my computer, all the time, unless it crashes.

But I mean, why can't you just bring it back to the front and close it, if it's important to you?

Create a short cut from the eso.exe and put it on your desk top. If there is an update it will tell you when you try to log in, other wise you don't need the launcher.

The only issue I have with the Launcher running with the game is if the PTS has an update. That can cause issues in the game. Otherwise, it's no big deal to leave it running.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

    Yes, I agree.

As soon as the 'Play' button dims on your launcher (a second or two after you press it to launch the game), close it.
If you can be anything, be kind.

I always have the Task Manager open to the Processes tab when I run the launcher; as soon as I see eso.exe pop into the list, I close the laucher.

I then right-click on eso.exe and select the "Set Priority" option and set it to "High"; that guarantees priority for memory and the primary core that the system is using (ESO is not multi-threaded).
