i think zos should Nerf cloaking

last night the guild went on a pvp jaunt and everything was fine, we all had a great time and laughed about something we had seen. you see one of our band thought they had seen someone run to a tree and cloak them selfs, so they fired a barge of arrows in towards the tree. at this point we all laughed because as the arrows hit the ground 20 bananas where forced out of cloak, we had been stood up on a hill for five mins deciding where to go next, by the time they where unvailed. my point here is that the cloak ability should have say a 30 second time limit with a recharge time of a min, this would stop the ganking, i know what ur all going to say, is well like it or lump it, but this isn't a case of that. but rather to have a lvl playing field and to stop the ganking, as it is not on, and before you again say like it or lump it, ganking is not really playing the game, its just someone being a bit of a ***, ok my rant is over.

Things like that are hilarious. We had got past the gate one time and were going for the scroll. Everyone was stealthed, probably about 30 of us, then I pop Siege Shield in the middle of the group and give our position away. Accidentally, of course........

Good times and hilarity ensue immediately.

Except ganking *is* playing the game, and is a valid tactic. It sucks when you're the one being ganked, sure, but you can't say it's not really playing the game to pick off stragglers or perform stealth attacks.

I am not saying it's not a valid tactic but some I have come across and in chat zone are not doing it as a tactic. I have seen in chat people looking for ganking groups. Using it is a tactic is fine iam not sing to take it away but limit the time they can be cloaked

You actually did say you want it taken away. You mentioned stopping ganking in your OP, and said it's not really playing the game.

Yes, people look for gank groups, because they like ganking. It's not my favorite way to PvP, but I have no issue with it. The only people I see complaining about ganking are the ones that get repeatedly ganked. Just build a strategy for dealing with it.

I wish people would quit yelling nerf this and that, every time something gets nerfed because of PVP it effects the PVE players too.


Seriously no one will be happy until all skills do one damage and all characters and monsters have one hit point, then it will be a matter of who hits first.

and to make sure its balanced everyone will have the same weapon to use.

It's not like if there was already tools in the game to detect people who are in stealth especially when you have already localized them.

Were they cloaked or stealthed? Your OP makes it sound like the latter. If so, everyone can do it. You should have been too. The surprise attacks are a big part of what makes pvp in this game fun. I say don't nerf what ain't broke.

1) Mage Light - use it when you're solo/someone else nearby isn't.
2) Potions
3) Different Strategy
4) Watch for slips in stealth. Players make mistakes and bring themselves out of stealth often. Like defensive driving, look far ahead and to the sides when you're running/riding and you'll better your changes of seeing those slips.
4) I just assume that there's always someone in stealth watching me (cloak is a broken Nightblade skill).

Most games cloak nerfing.

cloak breaks 90% of the time it is used. the NBs own DoTs break it, it breaks when close to enemies, breaks when ranged attacks are activated against the cloak user....
in other words, cloak needs no nerfing.

and you want to stop getting ganked??? play with some common sense.

stop rushing your horse at max speed thru the wilderness, stealth when nearing bridges and other known gank areas, and be ready to CC break and fight when you get jumped.

ganking is a perfectly viable tactic. Cutting off travel routes and supply lines is key to winning the battles.

Ambushes are more than valid tactics in warfare. If you have a problem with it, might want to stay out of Cyrodiil.

Gank is strictly a lazy, quick word given to the act of being ambushed or ambushing another.

Sure, while it may be old hat now, when I first encountered ESO PvP's stealth I thought it was absolutely *** ridiculous!

Also, and this is for everyone and not at all a malign criticism of the OP or anything of the sort.

But for post like this - hit the Enter key a few times and separate blocks of text. Makes it easier on the eyes of the reader and more likely to be read in it's entirety.

People are lazy, we see a wall of text and we think, "Damn it. Do I REALLY want to read all of this or do I just want to skim it for points that I want to rage about and tell the poster why they're wrong!"

Detection potions are very important in pvp (a lot of players don't realize how strong they are)

Ganking is an integral part of pvp.

Stealth crouch is an integral part of ES lore.

Cloaking is an integral part of stealth classes.

Newb guild outings are an integral part of my gank-fodder.

It's because of the perception filter.
