This. People would just use programs to keep from being logged out for inactivity.
Or, I guess, auto run into a corner. (Does that even work?)

^ This.
I would do my usual grind, dungeons, etc.... then stay logged in and use a program to move my mouse every few seconds or press a key or something to stay active while I'm at work until I got home.
Not going to happen. It would be very easily abused.

Do you know of a program that does this? Would be interesting to see someone try what you are suggesting.
Edit: now that I think about it, I guess you could just set a macro in a never ending loop. I would think that there could be a solution to this one problem, rather than just saying 'bad idea'. After all, we are the music makers, we are the dreamers of dreams.

This game, all games really, already have a problem with a general trend toward removing diversity and removing RISK/REWARD.
You want to farm and be rich? Fine, you won't have finely tuned pvp skills.
You want to spend all your time in PvP? That's fine, you will be poor and have trouble getting the highest and best gear.
You want to collect all the set pieces in the game? Fine, but you will have no time to farm or pvp.
DECISIONS. RISK. REWARD. DIVERSITY of action and style.

Holy hell this.
I'm sick and tired of all this Communist, Harrison Bergeron knocking everyone down to be equal to the lowest common denominator malarkey.
SO TIRED. If you don't put in the work, you shouldn't get any sort of reward. Your mediocrity isn't a desirable trait.
The school system and parents of today and tomorrow need to learn this and stop allowing wastes of space into the job market.
You are not special. You are not wonderful just the way you are. You want to be happy and successful? Work for it.
In game, out of game. Every aspect of life in which you want to excel requires dedication and perseverance.
Endeavor.
@Valen_Byte
The people who want to be "the best" i.e., better than other people, simply will not like this at all.

Wow man you've got some issues...I think you should go talk to someone before you snap.
@Valen_Byte
The people who want to be "the best" i.e., better than other people, simply will not like this at all.
They are the conqueror types and the whole point of the game for them is to conquer other people who play the game. They will go through any kind of grind or arduous difficulty even if they hate it and say it's a total bore. They will do it with one purpose in mind. To defeat others. To be better.
So I don't think your proposal will go over well with that portion of the community who tend to be quite proud of their status within games.

No, knuckles. What you're saying and what Blud said are 2 different types of people.
Blud was referring to the "RAWR I MUST PWNZOR'S all NUBS and BE SUPER AWESOME" players that are generally d-bags.
You're lumping everyone who wants to be the best at something they enjoy and be rewarded equal to their amount of effort into that category. And not only is that wrong, it's an insult.
So be careful with your generalizations.

My house has these two weird little side buttons on it, that for years have never done anything. Seriously, they were useless.
Until I started ESO. One makes my toon walk, and I don't have to hold it down, I just click it and he starts walking until I click it again.
SO yeah. . . I can walk forever!
