✭✭✭✭✭Yes it would be cool to have some beast merchants in the game. Creeper needs to make comeback too.
They don't have to have anything special to sell, although that would be cool, just an interesting place to stumble across them as we explore. Normal Vendor Functions is enough for me.

We do get a Crab Pet in the game. It is a reward from one of the Dwemer Dungeons. It's a mechanical crab though.

Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.***Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis1 -

Why not the crown store? I mean, if ESO weren't changing their revenue model, sure, in game gold. Since they are, there needs to be ways for ZOS to make money in the Crown store and I think this would be a really good money maker. It doesn't give players an unfair advantage but it's enough of a benefit for people to want to use it.
We have to change our thought process from "how can this benefit the game" to "how can this benefit the game while making more money for ZOS?"
This Mudcrab Merchant Bait was part of a larger concept for summonable beast merchants. In that concept, I suggest an in game quest that would grant players the bait.... Once.

I haven't posted it yet but I have a suggestion post for additional subscriber benefits. Part of that suggestion are items with cooldowns that perform this type of task.
Anyone can buy bait with no cooldown but subscribers can use their mudcrab merchant whistle with a 24 hour cooldown.
It's not about what this item or that item will do in game or in store, it's about building value in game, in store, and in subscription. Bigger picture than "Well this is what I want. "What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
