Why is this even a thing?

I'm talking about basic design here.

Because a crap ton of celebrities such as Angry Joe and other big guilds all rolled AD at launch; then a lot of those guilds moved to EP, and left DC to die.

Devs can't contol what color you pick in character creation, and they can't control who logs in day in day out.

yeah, but there are other ways of balancing, at least so there aren't 2 or 3 times the number of players compared to the other factions in a campaign at one time.

Floating pop caps that limit each faction to similar numbers would end up with problems in non peak hours when one alliance has significantly fewer numbers than another. Or after major map changes like scroll pushes, where the losers tend to RQ en mass. They could literally RQ as a strategy to grief the other factions. With the three faction setup, the idea is that the two weaker factions work against the stronger one and use that as a balancing mechanic, as opposed to artificial limitation. More incentives for ppl to actually do this instead of both factions ganging up in the weakest one would be nice.

What's really needed is a way to change factions without having to reroll. Something like being able to swap factions on one V14 toon per month on campaign reset for say 500,000 - 1,000,000 AP.

Give more AP to the players of the underpopulated factions and people will start rerolling, restoring the balance. ;)

First you'd have to start with making AP actually worth something. Like change all PvP gear traits to impen ffs.

More AP = faster leveling of your alliance rank = more achievements, dyes and skillpoints

Once you're alliance rank 10, everything after is just fluff. The titles mean nothing beyond some shape next to my name, and getting a new dye color I'll never use every couple weeks is hardly rewarding.

Honestly, I think the best way the devs could offset that would be to put PvP back the way it was at launch as far as NPCs go, where they weren't sufficient enough to hold a keep when up against a small, but well organized group. Since they buffed them, they're pretty much forcing people to zerg, which is why I stopped playing for quite a while.

What? You can solo an outpost of you know what you are doing. How do gaurs keeps you from playing haha they are a joke. The only ones who are redic are the archer guards with insane health and damage.

The only thing forcing people to zerg is a predominance of other zergs. You can blame it on npcs, or lack of forward camps, or anything else you want, but even when all the other things were there, people were zerging. This has gone on so long and with so many new people coming in to pvp and only experiencing this, that it's become an ingrained behavior. People either don't know how to do anything else or are too afraid to try anything else.

Can you please stop spamming your same broken record comment in nearly every single thread you try to enlighten? You don't even take the time anymore for capitalization or proper spelling.

If you have so much trouble with ESO's performance, just play on a less populated campaign.

    Missing the point? Totally expected.

The game is intended to let people group up and spam AoE skills. If you don't like negative side effects such as the horrible lag then complain to ZOS, play on a campaign that has less of these groups or just quit playing.

intended to have full groups of low level players spamming aoes completely out of battle with the sole purpose of lagging the fight. Said group never entering the battle? THAT'S intended? ok lol.

The problem is ESO's performance, not the people spamming AoE skills. Groups of people spamming AoE skills should not lag out the server in the first place.

You focus on a symptom while it's much smarter to focus on the cause.

Pretty much because there are absolutely no recovery nor ganking on the top guy mechanics.

If there were incentives to fight even when losing and to focus on the faction that has the advantage, the population imbalances would be less of an issue.

Take a look at this thread here:
    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/130109/a-possible-solution-to-population-imbalance

@Columba‌ hey, chill out. We "won", the target cap is being lifted in 1.6. No need to spam every single thread anymore, especialy out of context like this one, or you'll end up a detriment to your cause.

The population is basically sporadic throughout different time periods. For AD on US... can't even remember the server I am home to damnit, 7 day one... We tend to take things back in midday in the US early morning in AUS.

Other times there isn't really many people on AD to PvP so we lose it to another faction with the most players active.

I really hate to say it but the design was originally meant for active full sides, but with dwindling active players, imbalances, etc you have sporadic periods where one side will just pummel the other till the players leave.

Eitherway each side does conquer and capture all the scrolls. Down side is because there is no time limit or end its all up to which side has the most players active.
