So they prefer staying ignorant and just let us carry on like foolish kids ?
Not sure if I like this behavior. Is it too much for the Kings and Queens to come down to the inferior peasants and tell them, that the threatment of the end is not true ?

As long as this doesn't happen, I stay outragous and say: Silence is like agreeing.

It is just interesting to me that all the people that play this game regularly are fighting tooth, nail, and claw to say its not going to f2p. Ask an average gamer who does not play this game and they will probably say its going f2p. If having you was enough they would never need to try anything else, but its not.

Also this kind of says something

you can buy that on ZoS website....it has been there since the beginning lol it is so people who didnt get the imperial edition can have a horse. There are 3 options:

1 - Dont buy imperial or that horse and earn gold

    2 - Buy the horse

3 - get more bang for your buck with the imperial edition for 5 dollars more than that horse.

    Nothing to see here.

But if you have a story widely circulating in the relevant media, that your customers are obviously concerned about and that story is false then why not simply make a statement saying it is false?

It doesn't make sense from a PR perspective not to stamp on false rumours that are causing you damage.

Unless of course the story isn't false at all and you are busy biding your time to make a statement at the time of your choosing regarding any changes to your pricing model.

The swirling rumor mill doesn't bother me at all. It is the blank, cold silence on the issue from ZoS that does bother me.

I think the best way to crush / stop those rumours is simply ignoring them and keep on doing what they're doing, i.e. charging the monthly fees and concentrating on improving the game and bringing out patches.

Even if they bring out a statement that ESO won't change their subscription model, would all of you believe that? The same people who write those blogs ("news") would keep digging for ridiculous hints that the statement was false.

Just wait and see. After all there'll be some amazing news about ESO this week (according to some sources somewhere on the internet).

Yeah, on Friday. I'm so excited.
Hopefully the patchnotes *-* worst case would be the console announcement, which is not interesting to me.

Because Bethesda Softworks, who does the PR and Marketing for the game, does not comment on rumors and speculation. Pete Hines just said that. Quite plainly.

Yes, this allows them to quietly not comment on rumors that are correct. It also allows them to quietly not comment on rumors that are false.

If they ran out and denied rumors that were false, then it would be a statement that the rumor is true if they said nothing.

Since they do not, their lack of comment neither confirms nor denies the rumor. Equally, I might add.

Hm maybe they want these rumors, as this causes attention to the game, that it didn't have for a long time. So from that perspective, it could be clever to keep the rumors alive, as long as possible.

That as well. But there was a discussion on one site (I think it was MMORPG) where someone who has a friend working for ZOS revealed that there will be some amazing news for people who bought the game but have no active subscription. He even had a deadline for his revelation, this week! Majority predicted B2P. Let's see. I'll log in every night for my 2-3 hours gaming, and no rumour can change that.

Oh hm.... this would be upsetting. All I want is 1.6, at least the patchnotes. B2P is rather a cruel announcement, than a happy one. I hope, that questionable contact is wrong.

I am sick of seeing a thread everyday about this game going F2P. It will NEVER go F2P. Why you ask? let me explain:
    1. ZOS has stated multiple times they are not going free to play. Proof? read the articles on it, you will see it.
    2. If it does go F2P, most of the population would leave almost immediately. there are multiple threads where most of the commenters state they would leave if the game goes F2P: if this game were to go F2P, say goodbye to most of the fan base, which means say goodbye to the money.
    3. these rumors have been around since beta, and the game has yet to go F2P. ESO is going thru some hard times right now, but nothing to constitute it going F2P.

don't believe me? then do some actual research instead of listening to rumors. Trust me, the worst that can happen is this game takes on a B2P model, but It is not going Free to play. Just because ZOS has taken away one of the sub models does not mean the game is going F2P.
    1) Trion stated multiple times Rift wasn't going F2P - it did. Turbine said there were no plans for LOTRO to go F2P even after it was announced D&D was - it did. History is littered with 'nevers' that did, I see no reason to believe ZOS any more than I did Trion or Turbine.

    2) Trion's forum and Turbine's forum were full of threads like those you cite here - in both cases nothing like a majority let alone "most" left, I see no reason to think ESO players are any different from those that play Rift and LoTRO.

    3) You could also mention SW:TOR, probably the best example of a game, trumpeted by its developers as NEVER going F2P, that would shut before that happened - it did, not 6 months after launch.

I don't want ESO to go F2P, but you're hugely deluded if you think your 'evidence'; is worth anything as 'proof' it won't.

Tbh my guess is that if zos is planning to change business model its going to be depending on how 1.6 goes; hence it they retake the players they lost back in fall. Right now I observe a massive comeback from players who left since this summer including ppl in my guilds and names of enemies in pvp that I havent seen for a while. With this wave of resub, all that due to upcoming changes, I am positive now that the business model wont change as players expressed their vote with their credit card.

Can't happen .. as my previous post pointed out if it did it would have no credibility based on history and reality.

No one from ZOS who is authorised to make such a statement could ever do so, and anyone else doing so has no authority so their denial would be worthless.

If I were a betting man, my money is on the console version of the game being Buy to Play (B2P), I just don't see console gamers paying a monthly subscription for any game regardless of what game it is. Money is made in console games by charging players for DLC.

If the console version does turn out to be B2P, the question then becomes is it fair to charge the PC players a subscription fee every month and not the console gamers?

The situation here on the forum and the rest of the internet is a huge difference.
Here, most people want the game to stay as it is. But there are waaaay more people out there, just waiting fot ESO to finally loose its subscription. And recently more and more people becoming curious again out there and are talking about the game.

How is this not good for the game ?

I think your point goes both ways. The anti-F2P people are pointing at existing statements, which does not indicate what will happen in the future. The pro-F2P people are basically looking at tea leaves, which is built upon speculation that does not indicate what will happen in the future. Both reflect possible futures.

This is why I insist that everyone make sure they have one foot firmly planted on both sides of this issue. In this way, you get to claim you were right no matter what happens.

Personally, I plan to run out and say, "I knew this all along," no matter what happens.

I don't know if it will go F2P or B2P, but they would definitely say something if this was definitely not the case. No matter what they say about "rumors and speculations", every company does react to them if they become as widespread as this one has become.

I agree. If it does become b2p or whatever it will be with or sometime after console release. There's way to much money to be made with the release on consoles for them to go f2p before that.

Console release will give the verdict. Succes is monthly pay. Defeat is b2p

So don't expect anything to change till April/May or even later.

To me it's still totally worth the couple of euros each month. And with update 1.6 even more.
