Vampire - Compensating the Negatives

So, major fire damage as a Vamp and that's it right? How do i compensate for this fire damage? Just tons of spell resist? Any other negatives I'm not aware of I'll need to compensate for too? And how would I dot that?

    Nananananananana Batswarm!

Weakness to fire, countered by resist enchantment, is a minor inconvenience compared to
    Unbreakable cc (feeding)
Powerfull ulti that deals a ton of aoe damage and heals you and is moveable
Spell improvement through staying at stage 4
    Mistform

In pvp you could get hit by some anti-deadra abilities like silver shards or dawnbreaker. Hunter will highlight you as a vamp. People who know what they are doing will smash you in seconds.

Overall vampires have more advantages on their side as long they keep an eye on their vulnerabilities.

I have never used a vamp to an extended period, but most people I see suggest either rolling a dunmer or equiping a lot of fire resistance enchantments.

to be honest the benefits far outweigh that negative, based on what I have seen. an AOE that is movable and heals you, increased magicka regeneration at higher stages(or something like that) and mist form, which, although it honestly,, in my opinion, sucks: can still be a decent escape ability.

all that for a weakness one could control with fire resistance enchantments.

If you want the best build possible, then I say go for it. see how it goes.

Health recovery also takes a hit, especially at stage 4.

Now that, I did forget about.

hmm... I don't know how one would deal with that.

You can have all the fire resist jewelry you want... you're still going to get one-shoted by a lot of bosses and fairly frequently in PvP. Oh and you get to be ugly. I mean really, really ugly, most of the time. And other people are still going to scream for your class to be nerfed because, somehow, you are still "too strong."

Regeneration is low? Potions, healing spells, batswarm
    No problem at all.

Fire resist helps but only to a point. Vampire fire weakness is calculated after resistances are calculated, i.e. even if you're hardcapped on fire resist you'll still take 50% more fire damage than a non-Vampire who's also hardcapped.

The health regeneration weakness is a joke, really. Health regen is a very weak stat to begin with, reducing it doesn't change much.

Overall Vampirism is primarily a PvP thing. There's too much fire damage being thrown around in PvE (see: DSA, Vet CoA) for Vampires to work well.

You'll want to avoid getting hit in the first place. Location, location, location. Avoid obvious AoE/heavy attacks, if not possible then at least block. If you don't lose the hp, you won't miss the regen. Fire attacks are particularly painful due to the increased weakness to fire. I mostly manage with my normal build, but have 2 rings with 1500 fire resistance each in case I ever need it.

Other than that, it helps if you have self-heals. Your batswarm is one of these, but it's not always up. As a sorc, I have critical surge up all the time, and any critical hits heal me back (as well as building ultimate to get those bats out again). You can have a restoration staff on your second bar with a couple more heals if needed.

For group content, the healer in the party will be taking care of everyone's hp, but still, do try to make their life easier by not needing to be healed all the time :)

I've completed all veteran dungeons and AA as a vamp sorc without dying, so if you know what you're doing, the penalties aren't too bad. If anything, the weakness to fire is worse than the hp regen hit.

Ahem... I beg to differ :) I've done plenty of veteran CoA and do manage even without my fire resist rings. Don't know about DSA, though.
