Message from the Dark Brotherhood found!

Found this in Stonefalls, at Davenas' farm nw of Ashen Road Wayshrine, in the guar barn, behind a keg on the ground. Letter is titled "We Know, Many-Rocks"

"We have seen your deeds, Many-Rocks. You trail blood down the river as you swim. Moving always from home to home, accross the face of the Ashlands. The blood of the oppressors has stained your scales crimson.

We are impressed.

Just one more act and you will be ready. You will be... contacted. Hail Sithis
!"

Anyone else find any notes or bits of info about them?

Er.... are you certain that is Tong or Brotherhood? It mentions "oppressors" which sounds more like the Shadowscales.

Well Shadowscales are, to my understanding, a special branch or allied group of the Brotherhood that operates in Black Marsh. All Shadowscales are taken from birth and trained by the Brotherhood before being sent to serve in Black Marsh, after all. It could also be that the writer of the letter is an Argonian member of the Brotherhood who approves of killing Dunmer.

Though I'm pretty sure it's Brotherhood. The whole "We Know", killing to gain entry, and "Hail Sithis!" are all Brotherhood trademarks.

    What about this
    dM0Svqk.jpg
    Groupfinder:
The worst part is when it finally puts you in a group, your healer turns into a werewolf, your tank has 14k HP and the dps is heavy armor, using a restro staff and a two handed sword on the backbar. Then comes the 15 minute penalty before the cycle starts anew.

    Rulz of Morrowind:
    • The first rule of Morrowind is: You do not talk about Morrowind.
    • The second rule of Morrowind is: You do not talk about Morrowind.
    • Third rule of Morrowind: Someone yells NDA stuff, uploads images, streams, the game is over.
    • Fourth rule: only invited players can test.
    • Fifth rule: one invite at a time, fellas.
    • Sixth rule: crying or bashing on pts.
    • Seventh rule: NDA will go on as long as they have to.
    • And the eighth and final rule: If this is your first invite at Morrowind, you have to play.

I swear I heard an NPC mentioned the Dark Brotherhood in passing a few weeks ago. It took a few minutes to register, and I can't remember where it happened. I think they are planting seeds.
It would be really cool if they implemented it in an update and didn't put it in the release notes. Then it would truly function as a semi-mythical faction that many considered merely a rumor....

I know of several references and even appearances of shadowscales. But of the Brotherhood specifically?
I can't say I know of any signs or hints apart from a few in-game books.

Just to be clear, the Shadowscales are a branch of the Morag Tong, not Brotherhood, as the supporters of Sithis are not as biased as the other Dark Elves. Also, the Brotherhood and Tong are enemies, not allies. The Tong are waning during this time period, but pretty sure the Brotherhood is not yet formed.. yet.

Um... I've never heard of the Shadowscales being associated with the Tong not the Brotherhood. The opposite, in fact.
    To quote Teinaava from Oblivion:
In the Argonian home of Black Marsh, those born under the sign of the Shadow are taken at birth and presented to the Dark Brotherhood. A Shadowscale hatchling is trained in the arts of stealth and assassination, and lives a life in service to the mighty kingdom of Argonia. Any Shadowscale who lives to come of age is accepted into the Dark Brotherhood as a full member of the family. So it was with me and Ocheeva.
Plus, the Brotherhood serve Sithis, the Tong, Mephala. I've never heard a Shadowscale speak of them serving Mephala, only Sithis.
Where did you hear the Shadowscales are part of the Tong?

The Brotherhood may already be around in ESO. When you last speak to Naryu Virian, she tells you she has to help the Tong "deal with an upstart guild of rival assassins", which is most likely the Brotherhood. We know they were formed during the Second Era, which does fit the timetable. Likely we'll get to play through their first rise to power.

I'm fairly certain lore-wise we can establish that they exist in game, but that actual mechanics and being able to join wont be a thing until the justice system is established in the next update. From there, it could be very soon. I know I'll be working ahead of the clock ;)

2E 358 — Earliest known written record of the Dark Brotherhood. A note was found beneath the floorboards of an abandoned house in the Nordic village of Jallenheim. Depicting a war between two shadowy organizations, scholars speculate that this is a rare piece of evidence of the war between the Morag Tong and its hated offshoot, the Dark Brotherhood. The Brotherhood was probably in existence before this date, but its secrecy shrouds its true origins, though it was most likely formed by several ex-members of the Morag Tong.

2E 360 — Earliest known date of a person enlisting the services of the Dark Brotherhood. This reference was found in the journals of Queen Arlimahera of Hegathe.

2E 582 — The Three Banners War begins. The Aldmeri Dominion, Ebonheart Pact and Daggerfall Covenant clash to wrest control of the Ruby Throne from the Empire of Cyrodiil and defend themselves against the Imperials under Molag Bal's influence. The Dominion seeks to reestablish Elven dominance over Tamriel to protect it from the carelessness of the younger races. The Covenant intends to restore the Second Empire and return peace and stability to Tamriel. The Pact desires to defeat the Imperials in order to preserve the independence of their homelands.

A little over 200 years have passed since the first known evidence of the Dark Brotherhood. Therefore it is safe to say that they have been around for quite some time, though in the shadows, successfully concealing themselves for all that time.

    I can picture it now:

You randomly murder an innocent. A few in-game days later, you're running around in PvE when your character stops, sways, falls down.

    The screen goes black.

You wake up in a dark room. There's a hooded figure standing near you.

"You sleep rather soundly for a murderer. That's good."

And then the Dark Brotherhood questline begins.

@Woolenthreads‌ , yes. This was a flaw in the game, imo.

It's why I tell people if they do go back and play, not to enable Tribunal until they've completed the main line at least, if not the other expansion, as well.

If you get that as a low level character, makes the rest a little too easy.

On the opposite note, my character never slept. I don't recall if this was because of regen (really good) or lack of regen (Atronach sign?), so I just relied on potions.

Then, one day out of the blue, quite litterally in the middle of nowhere out in the Ashlands, I took a nap for some unknown reason to get woken up by a much meaner group of individuals than you encountered.

At higher levels, they scaled up, and they sent more than one. ;)

That'd be Wes Johnson, and he's awesome. Youtuber Shoddycast asked him to reprise his voice acting role as Sheogorath for an Elder Scrolls Lore episode and he did it! It was awesome. Shame ZOS never approached him to voice Sheogorath in ESO :(

I do like the new Sheogorath voice, no regrats, not even a single letter.

But Lucien Lachance was just so perfect for assassin recruiter. The wet dreams that character made around the globe was immense.

Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim, just didn't have the right sex appeal for all those tight leather pants.
