I'm curious if there will be anything to encourage hybrid builds, as in not putting all of your stats into either magicka or stamina, but using both.

or at least making it an option.

ya it would be nice if they nerfed max stam magica literally being a second weapon/spell power stat. It completely ruins potential for competitive hybrids and only encourages min/max.
if all damage revolved around spell/ weapn damage and not the size of the pool there could be more viable combonations. I hate Invisible stats, cant they at least make the size of the pool increase/decrease the stat instead of being a second invisible stat? wtf

I think champion system and update 6 will do the opposite of that. hybrid builds will be even lesser powerful. because now everything that cost magica will now be scaled by spell dmg. so for a magica based build there will be no reason to put points into weapon power. he will have more spellpower and max magica so he will do more dps then every hybrid build. and now he can have as much magica and spell power as he likes, there is no reduction anymore, there is no soft cap. same goes for stamina builds, he will have stamina class skills now so he will have a few supportive magica skills, but for the rest he will not need any magica or spelldmg.

I don't think this is a bad thing, you can still shose to play a hybrid build and you can make a good hybrid build, but you will never be the best. and that's ok. cause if you really want to have the best build you will have to shose. and that's a good thing.

I have a lot of builds and I tried a hybrid build but I always came to a point that I shose to be a magica build or a stamina build. I lvled a Khajiit Nightblade with 5 pieces of medium armor and 2 pieces of light armor, I putted 20 points into health and 15 points into magica and stamina. I used 3 magica skills and 2 stamina skills (bow and dual wield) but in VR I started to use 3 stamina skills and 2 support magica skills. I noticed that I needed more stamina and less magica, so now I have 25 points into health and the rest into stamina and I wear full medium armor. this works a lot better and it will work even better when update 6 is live ;)

so in general I think that hybrid builds aren't as powerfull as magica or stamina builds. it's nice to play but it feels like you don't fit in a role, it doesn't feel right. update 6 will not make this better and I don't think that's a terrible thing. ;)

Hybrid builds are mostli called stamine buids with using suport mana skills. I play pure stamina (7 md armor) NB DW Dps and on bar have two sta skils (flurry man dmg skill and twin slashes as suport dmg skill) and three mana skills ambush incapacitate and Mark target. For this hybrid builds 1.6 nothing change. And pure sta builds are stilnno viable bc you have aby suport stamina skills
Adraria Argentum Draco - imperial Stamplar
Bevdyen Tus Ntxhuav - Orc Stamplar
    Celestun Ira Dei- Imperial Tankplar
    Halldis Rautt Höfuð- Nord Tankplar
    Misawa Yoshike - Breton Healplar
    Lae'ozhael - Dunmer Magplar

while we won't know until we get to crack into the system, a lot of the lines they talked about with champion system lead me to believe the hybrids will not only be viable but just as competitive. They may just require a bit more work to make successful.

I would just call a build that uses support magicka skills a stamina build. I think for hybrid builds to be useful there has to be some benefit to having your stamina and magicka close to the same level, it could be some sort of champion skill/gear set/something else.

Right now you can get to overcharge and then work on your other stats, and have it be a more efficient use of points rather than going all in on one or the other.

Update 1.6 will have the removal of overcharge, so you can dump everything into one stat. If there's absolutely nothing encouraging otherwise, then a hybrid build will be much weaker than just stacking one or the other.

Yeah, sounds to be going the opposite and more toward favoring one stat with soft cap removal as well as adding morphs to class abilities to make them stamina based so it will be easier to be a stamina class in the way that full magicka classes have support abilities, so will stamina.

To me, stamina build is a build that uses stamina based skills for dealing damage, and is focused on stamina/weapon damage instead of magicka/spell damage.

With the class system ESO is using, I don't see another option to using magicka skills for utility.

Sure, it'd be cool to have builds that don't use magicka at all (I played several in past Elder Scrolls games), but due to min-maxing this is unlikely to happen.

Some people seemed to have difficulty differentiating between a stamina build and a hybrid build, and I explained the difference & stated how it'd be nice to have "pure" stamina builds, but how they'd be an impossibility given the game mechanics in place.

I'm not sure how you missed that

Surely for the skills with the stamina morph there will be a better scaling, stats wise, but thinking to Surprise Attack or Ambush (considering these as Stamina morphs), there could be even more stamina depletion compared to now.
Maybe or hopefully there are also changements to dodge roll, break free and block.
Will the removal of softcaps (Stamina Recovery in this case) be enough? Let's hope.

Nowadays with also a good ammount of magicka and spell dmg capped and even without the spell crit and penetration of LA, skills like Cripple and Strife and their morphs can be good in certain situations and Sap Essence is great to be used with Cleave and Steel Tornado.

Considering what explained in Q&A, interviews, etc, I have the same feeling of others about 1.6.
I prefer to be now sceptical and then be positively surprised.
