I've come back to ESO after a small hiatus and am leveling new characters. I would love to join a guild with people like me who share common interest to make my leveling experience more enjoyable.

The guild can also simply be LGBT friendly (not themed for LGBT members but containing a few) with a casual feel. Thanks :)
Hi there! My name is Vaht or as most people call me, pupsy. I am a somewhat casual PvE and casual small group pvp player. Dude, this game is totes fun and I love playing with friends while in a discord call.

I only have a dragon knight left to level and then i'll have one of each class at CP rank.

This is Tamriel! There is no notion of LGBT. People are just who they are and are free to love who they love.

    But to be more helpful:
The Coven is one... but it's Aldmeri Dominion specific:

What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

Fixed that for ya. Named after the game's original woodworking Hireling, Pacrooti. His hireling emails were the most humorous.

I have never seen this issue about a LGBT guild before ESO. Is it really that big of a deal? I don't discuss my sex life with a bunch of virtual people in an mmo and don't care to hear about others sex life in guild chat. Oh by the way what does the T stand for?

    T=Trans.

Anyway, as far as I'm aware, there're a couple of LGBT people in every 490+ guild - nobody pays any special attention, be it negative or otherwise. I'd suggest one of the trading guilds so you can buy/sell at the kiosk from the bank.
"I haven't really played much yet, but lemme tell you all about how the game should include X and be a lot more like Y!" - Half the posters on this forum.
"I've been here for years, and lemme tell you all about how they should never change or evolve Z, because then the game would be ruined forever." - The other half of posters on this forum.

It's about a safe space - but I guess for some it's kinda like joining a national guild, looking for people with a similar background. And not sex life - personal life in general. When you get close to your guildmates, you learn things about them: where they live, work, if they have a family. Especially if it's a smaller, social guild. If that happens, you want to be able to talk about it freely, don't you? LGBT-friendly guilds are generally accepting of different lifestyles.

The few times the LGBT topic came up in the guilds I'm in, it was civil and mature (tbh, most guilds in the game are probably LGBT-friendly without even trying). But I have also occasionally seen homophobic comments elsewhere, so I can understand why people want to make sure they don't end up in a guild with those intolerant players.

Have you seen some of the organic bovine byproduct some of the less than mature players have posted in zone chat? [I know some evenings I've reported more than a few idiots for violating the ToS and Code of Conduct]

If you don't want to deal with manure and you block zone chat, it is nice to have a sane space for guild chat. One guild I'm in specified that it is LGBT friendly, two others don't specify, but the guild rules you had to read and agree to before joining kind of imply it anyway. Not much chat about personal lives, but if someone mentions something in passing, it kind of guarantees no homophobic ranting and raving.

I don't have any problems with people who use hate speech and harass other players being segregated, really. Or banned, if they can't get along with others.

Thanks Steve for the spelling. I have been in the LGBT Pacrooti's Hirelings guild for months and never heard anyone discuss their sex lives. It is just a friendly and safe place where people are tolerant and don't use offensive insults. I have heard people discuss shoes though lol.

I am also in two other guilds which while are not LGBT have strict rules about being nice, no put downs and no spam. They would be fine for the OP.

I don't think this is about segregation. To me segregation is creating a dangerous and unpleasant world. Having common interest guilds is to allow people to create friendly and safe worlds.

There are guilds for German, Russian, Italian, Australian etc players and I see nothing wrong with that. There are guilds for females. There are guilds for old people. There are guilds for people that like LOTR, WoW, GoT, Monty Python. What about for people that like Football, or Racing Cars?

Honestly I can't see the problem.

I apologize if someone thought I was trying to segregate myself from other sexual preferences, because that isn't what I am trying to do at all. I'm fine with joining any guild, but I wanted to see if there were any LGBT guilds first because it gives me other people who I can instantly relate to. It's hard to explain but it is a lot easier for me personally to make friends with someone who shares common interest with me. Sorry for any misconception! <3

This is why us gay people prefer to play with other LGBT people, because they just don't get it sadly.
I mean really they think we discus our sex lives? go figure....

You should just join a guild and not try to relate to people instantly.

Theres a certain joy to be found in getting too know someone completely different from yourself, theres no need to live in your own bubble (I mean no offense by that).

People are hateful sure, but not all and a majority of people ive talked too in this game are very nice people. Some of them gay some of them not. Dont try and hide yourself from hate, embrace it because honestly this is the only way people will stop caring about such things when it becomes the norm (and of course such things shouldn't be forced they should be natural which is my general point) - Join a guild, get to know people different from yourself and dont hide when one or two might be *** about who you are. Im straight and people are hateful towards me sometimes, yes the hate is different for you but the principal applies. Not really much you can do about it and the bubble will burst after a while. Do not be afraid. Just be yourself.

I hope you can appreciate my general point there and not find any of it offensive as that was not the intent.

EDIT for mods: Yes yes yes, I know mods, I should of looked at the date of the thread (facepalm) People really should stop necroing threads.

I understand what you're saying, and I can't speak for everyone but for me it's not about hiding *myself* from hate, it's about being somewhere that others won't tolerate its presence at all. In a guild that is officially LGBT-friendly, I can reasonably expect not to see hate speech in guild chat. Since I see hate speech in zone chat every day, being able to switch to a chat where that crap won't fly is a way to enjoy playing a game during my leisure time and not having to deal with the same nastiness that I am exposed to in every single other aspect of my life that involves people I don't know.

This is the first comparison that comes to mind right now (I am tired): Let's say you work on a farm, and you literally walk in animal poop all day long. Then at night you go to a club for some fun, and the club has several different rooms. Most of them have some animal poop on the floors that has been tracked in by other people, but there's a room that has been specifically designated as the "no poop on the floor" room. Now if you were just plain sick of walking in animal poop, wouldn't it be kind of a relief to whip off those boots and go hang out in the No Poop room for a while? ;)

I think that isn't a fair assumption. It's not as common right now for people to be openly homophobic, but there's still plenty of secret homophobia, unwitting/complacent homophobia, and loads of very open transphobia. I'm not saying that people who are LGBT+ are automatically going to be better at checking their language, but these issues are much more easily discussed and regulated within the community than having to play Sex and Sexuality 101 every time someone says "that's gay" or makes an "attack helicopter" joke.

Coming soon: Race friendly guilds. Because we have to assume that everyone is prejudiced.

I know LGBT+ people from all over the world: some are racial and/or ethnic minorities in their countries, some have politics that run counter to mine, some really like death metal and I have to shut my mouth because I like alt metal waaaay better. Just because people - including straight people - in LGBT+ friendly guilds decide to ban homophobia & transphobia in chat, doesn't make us an echo chamber.

Unless you're trying to imply all gay etc people like the same music?

(On the off chance anyone here is actually looking for LGBT+ friendly guilds and is on PC-NA, I'm going to drop a rec for Lone Wolf Help. The rules state "No sexism, harassment, racism, sexual content etc" and it's taken seriously; I've been a member for over a year and have only seen someone being *phobic in guild chat once, and an officer promptly intervened. And LGBT+ friendly guilds named Pacrooti's Hirelings still exist on both PC servers. @SteveCampsOut runs the EU guild; @Jaredsdad runs the NA guild, poke him in-game if you'd like an invite.)
