Block and casting is getting addressed

It's so strange, it isn't op! I always said that this blasted whiners that whine about everything were wrong! Why u do this ZOS!?
-Bob, a block and caster.

How it is going to be addressed:
  • Blocking attacks won't generate ultimate anymore. Self explanatory.
  • You will have to do one light attack every 8 second to generate more ultimate. You will have one millisecond (animation canceling still exist) in which you can hit the shield user with one instant skill.
  • Light armor will become more squishy with the removal of soft cap and attribute rescaling weapon will do some damage to people in dress. Wow. If they want to have some armor, they'll have to put more than one buff in their bar to be effective.
  • No more stacking of damage shield, thanks to the major and minor buff thing.
  • Reflective Scale now is limited in the number of projectiles that it can reflect. Eheh. Self explanatory.
  • This one's a speculation: maybe there will be a passive of CP that will give you more block penetration. But there will be passives that will make block more effective for sure, so this isn't a huge point in favour.

Check this link to know the other changes that will come along with CP: http://tamrielfoundry.com/2014/12/champion-system-details/

Happy holidays to everyone, even if you are using a shield!

I wear heavy armor and use a hammer and shield.

    • Staves will give spell damage. Your class abilities will deal much more damage of a sword and shield user, making your spell damage staff builds worth existing. As it is now there is no difference between someone that uses the same class abilities with a shield and someone that uses them with a staff. Well actually the difference exists and it is that the shield one can block more damage and it can do it forever.

I didn't know this was a thing. I only thought they made staff attacks scale with spell damage instead of weapon damage, but if this is true then it's really good news (for a change). Is it confirmed?

I'm afraid this is not enough. Damage shield still cost less magicka & block more damage than offensive spells, and will likely stay on your bar (and passives, since you can get them from blocking/drinking potions/resurrecting etc).

I would like them to make them more restrictive, perhaps by separating spell dmg & healing, thus allowing players to make pure dps builds, instead of being forced (for the sake of competitivity) to slot one, and if players wanted to slot both defensive & offensive skills, then there should be a drawback imo

They could fix this by making an ability that deals increased damage on blocking targets & prevents block for X seconds.
Or by making it 180 degrees only for more skill based combat.

Does this mean we can restore harness magicka to some of it's former glory?

    I don't think so.

I get the impression that animation cancellation is also on its way out. Didn't they mention somewhere that 2 handed weapons are supposed to be slow and hit harder but animation cancellation made that not the case?

Might have to actually know when to block and when to actually attack.

Oops. It isn't confirmed, in fact I misunderstood them.
    Gonna edit the thread :v

Well at least this change is better than no change ^^

IMO what they have to do is making you deal a % less of damage you deal when blocking or making the stamina required to block an attack directly proportional to the damage blocked.
