An expert crafter should be able to change traits on made items, or drops from pledges like the 2 set bonuses.
How often dont you find yourself with shiny loot but then joy is killed due to crappy and senseless trait?

✭✭In my opinion, an expert crafter should be able to do stuff that basic crafters cannot, and becoming one should require more than waiting 30 days for one research.Wololo.1 -

Except that considering the comparative ease with which almost anyone can level all of their crafts at the moment this would likely remove the repair based gold sink immediately as well as probably removing a trading line (why bother looking in the stores/kiosks for a specifically traited item if you can buy/get any drop and change it yourself?) as well.1
