N00b here ...

Is it possible to craft one's own bows within the game ? If so, what craftsperson will I have to seek out ?
Thanks

It's simple, you go out and find some logs laying in forest or a grassy field, press E on them to harvest. Then head into a citys woodworking station and use a racial stone(purchasable from Blacksmith NPC, or found just about everywhere) to turn the wood into a bow.

You will only be able to craft the first tier without putting skill points into the craft.(K > Crafting > Woodworking) And you won't have any traits learned yet, so your bow will not have a trait.

Alternatively, you can ask in zone and there will be people willing to craft you a bow.

    Good luck.

Here are some helpful links that you can use to plan your ESO Crafting career.

    Crafted sets Here.

Dropped sets Here (some are also purchasable via Alliance Points).

Veteran Dungeon Monster sets Here (3+ more sets coming soon).

None of the above listed links are 100% perfect in how current the listings are but it's pretty good.

    • Look for the wood at the base of trees or along shorelines.
    • Research traits otherwise the bows that drop from critters will always be better than what you can make.
    • You can increase the level of the crafted item by increasing the amount of crafted material used to make the item.
    • You can't craft items with an uneven level value.

Wow, thanks for all of this extra info, guys ! One other question I have is what does Rank mean on the weapon or armour ?

The rank coincides with your character. You can only use equipment that is at or below your character rank. It will be shown in Red if you can't use it. But you may want to keep a piece of loot until you level to it.

Also, if you improve something you can get more levels of use out of it. For example a Green L4 bow can be effective up to L6, a Blue L4 Bow can be effective up to L8 as far as staying with the mobs you will encounter.

However, until you get some passives in the crafting line, improving an item will use up a lot of tempers, so you will want to stick to Green improvements until you get those skills selected.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

The newly introduced Crafting Writs are a good way of leveling your crafts.

Also, trading items with another player for deconstruction will yield more IP (Inspiration points - the crafting XP) than deconstructing things you have found. Deconstructing things you made yourself gives you the least amount of IP.

As you level up, you will need to get new materials to make armor/weapons at the appropriate level, and you will need to invest skill points into the respective skill.
