Why don't gaming sites talk about ESO anymore?

This is my opinion and nothing more. I have zero data or hard facts to back this up. But I think it's because ESO is still a hot potato. It was popular and trendy to bash ESO at launch. The game had many issues turning people away with the VR system being top of the list. Due to the high expectations (which I think were impossible to live up to), it was very popular to bash the game. Guys like Angry Joe etc were getting tens of thousands of hits due to their criticism.

Yet ESO kept chugging along. ZOS keeps making changes, some good, some not so good, but they are very clearly not giving up. You are starting to see more and more positive reviews. You are starting to see people returning to the game. You are starting to see an influx of new players to the game.

To put it simply, it was unpopular to publicly discuss and support ESO. Yet despite all that negative press at launch, it is still chugging along with a pretty large amount of loyal supporters. Seems to me like the pendulum is swinging the other way now. I predict that very shortly ESO is going to be getting more support from the so called "critics" because they won't be able to deny the fact that ESO has been successful and continues to grow.

It will become trendy and popular to support it. Then they will support it because most critics are like ambulance chasers. They just like to report on car crashes because negative press is good press. They are just parasites that follow trends.

    That's just my opinion.

The game was released before it was ready, that was clear at launch. That's why it got so much criticism. Yes some of them expected Skyrim online, but most people were ignoring them, it was the ones who were calmly defining the flaws that they were taking note of.

I do agree though that ZOS have been constantly fixing and adding to the game, and people are coming back. This is a good game, it has it's flaws, but it has it's good points too.

The main good point is that it isn't WOW or Wildstar or [add an MMO of your choice].

Go type in Elder Scrolls Online into google sometime

You will get 200 results for "confirmed release date" from idiots blogging trying to get viewers.

Do you really play games just to have minor statistical advantages over other players? Is this a work/reward relationship for you, like a job?

If you weren't enjoying yourself, why did you play?

And if you did enjoy yourself, how is it a waste?

I play the game to ACCOMPLISH things (virtually). The statistical advantage is just a gauge of that accomplishment. It could be anything.

The bottom line is that the ACHIEVEMENT and the accomplishment is being reduced and/or the lack there of for newer players is being subsidized.

If you don't want to compare it to a job, compare it to a hobby.

Compare it to painting a picture. You took months painting a giant landscape scene. Another person comes in and paints a cloud in the corner. Then the canvas is ripped in half, in two equal sections.

Compare it to almost anything. I think you are being purposefully obtuse.

And we can also extend your logic further. If you are okay with the achievements as expressed through statistical advancement of the last several months (VR1-14) being erased, then why not reset your character completely. Why not make VR14 and lvl 1 the same after 1.6 "relaunch"? That even more opportunity for you to have fun replaying the game, yes?

If Zos want's to essentially relaunch the game, that's fine, but give me the next 3 months subscriptions free since nothing I did in the last 3 months even counted!

The coming update will generate some buzz on MMO sites, as they tend to, but after that the quiet will come again. This game is never going to be big, but rather niche, and you just need to come to grips with that.

And the problem is the developers seem dedicated to the idea of crapping all over existing subscribers in an attempt to get new players.

If you had a "niche" game like you describe, would you do what they are doing with Champion points in 1.6 (even distribution and cap)?

Of course not. The subscribers you lose will far outweigh the new players that stay past the first month trial.

How about doing the same complain about the last expansion for WOW.
If did not matter if your xp has been capped since 14 days after mist of pandora or it was capped the day before the release, and yes the raiding gear you have build up over two years are worse than the questing gear you get at level 94.

Stop the press now, this one want to get off.

I didn't play WOW, so I'm not sure what you are saying.

It seems to be some type of equivalency argument.

"This is okay, because this has been done before."

Sorry, but I don't subscribe to that point of view....on anything!
