I still can't find the dang cleft. Even went to the end spot to back track and nothing. Can someone take a screen shot to prove it's existence?

Then that lead me to here. I thought this was it, but maybe not.... because after that I get lost.

That's the same one I found, fits the description pretty beautifully I thought, but pretty sure it's wrong (you and I ended up in the same place)

frankgonetom_ESO Would you mind running through the rout again with screen shots and show us how you got there? It would be much appreciated.... It's driving me crazy not figuring it out haha.

It is the right spot, the next clue that had you count stumps is I think where most of us got lost.
Especially being just south of Ales lumber mill

But if you figure out the tower clue, that'll point you in the correct direction to find the right spot.

I believe that this place is "an arrangement of one stump, two bushes, and three stones".

Or maybe this one, but it was "under enemy control"

Yeah, I wasn't too thrilled when I realized that the "Tower" clue in Cyrodiil referred to a UI compass trick rather than THE actual giant Tower that Cyrodiil is known for.

Note the tower over the "cardinal" direction of N in my compass.

Since we're on the second page, I'm going to stop using spoiler tags.

After I saw what was the correct spot, I went back trough the clues and realized that if you look at "With the tower obscuring the cardinal, pass a dead tree and its young." and think that Fort Aleswell is "The Tower" (it's a tower on the compass) and it is "obscuring the cardinal" (the tower covers the N on the compass, or the cardinal direction North) then following that will take you right to the spot that frankgonetom and the others found.

When I originally saw "the tower" I immediately thought of the White Gold Tower at the center of Cyrodiil. From that same initial spot as above, if you head South instead of North (toward the White Gold Tower) you'll find the rock/bush/trunk combination I originally thought was correct.

I just wasn't a big fan of using compass UI for a fort as a clue for a tower, especially when arguably the biggest landmark in Tamriel is a tower in Cyrodiil

This process was more by feel than actual " step by step fact". some luck was involved and I honestly don't think i can do that again lol.
  • kevin_e_olsonb14_ESO
Well, congratulations is still in order to you Frank and all the others who figured it out. In the end, I wasn't able to do it. Now for next time I know that any clue is possible. I was thinking that whatever you could see is what the clues were going by, so the tower obscuring the cardinal threw me for a loop. Plus I didn't know cardinal could mean north. I was looking for something like a bird or a person in a highly religious rank, or maybe something red haha.

at first i was in northern auridon looking for elenwen (i thought it was a typo on the name sorry ESO staff). There's plenty of archways and such up there and nothing was adding up. Then i thought that it needs to be accessible to everyone so went to cyrodil. We split up, found the NPC and the chase was on. Alot of the clues were vague. Bushes? What do those look like? Common stump or 1/2 tree stump? I think thats what threw some people off. Also the compass UI clue when the area is close to an actual tower that can be seen in game was pretty out there.

Well when it said Imperial city. I immediately thought of Cyrodiil and to look around the mote of the city in the center. To me, the haze that is around the white gold tower when you look at it was the "dust." I immediately went to Cyrodiil but sadly, the campaign I joined, EP had hardly any towers, so I had to ride all the way to the center and started my search on the east side of the white gold tower and went around haha. It was only after this was over that I figured "dust" might of had a double meaning with the haze around the city and her sweeping.

    Hahahaha,
It was such a fun treasure hunt! Even though i gave up on the first point, i found it really fun. To be honest, i thought Elaninwe would be in the village of Hackdirt. Dirt = dust. I was very wrong.
I will definitely be doing this tomorrow as well!

@ZoS_KaiSchober You need to put your original post on the Dev Tracker so people FIND it, before many of us can tell you if it was too hard or not. A scavenger hunt is fun, unless you feel left out because no one told you it was going on.

Thank you for a lovely challenge.

Obviously it has to be in Cyrodiil or Coldharbour or Craglorn. Cyrodiil gives the most folks the option to try.

Even little events like this are what really make a game special. There is a sense of interaction with the folks who make the game and that we have something to share.

I don't care about winning, and I find it so interesting that people found multiple locations that they thought were viable. One thing I learned by in my paper D&D days back in the 70s and 80s was that players always find a solution that you the GM didn't think of.

If I weren't over half a century old I might be somewhat distressed that someone always find something to complain about, but most days I'm used to it now.
