Tanks in Demand?

I'm hearing tanks are not really needed? Also if they are it's usually 1 per group and it's hard to get a group as a tank. Was wondering if this true? My next question would be is it easy to get a group as DPS?

I'm confused. Why don't you just play the role you want to play? And you can carry two specs.

    Whoa, problem solved.

It seems to come and go, at some point it seemed tanks were the hardest to find. It may vary by server/faction/guild. You have to keep in mind though, for trials only 1 (or 2 for SO) of 12 players need to be tanks. You need a lot more DPS than tanks. For extra flexibility, having two specs is a very good idea. Also helps when looking for groups for 4-man content.

But if you really prefer a particular role, go ahead and focus on it. You will find groups eventually. :)

If you wanna run dungeons, tanks are very much in demand. I wouldn't recommend most vet dungeons without a tank atm. And it can be a real pain to find a good tank, too.

Trials, well, 1-2 tanks per 12 people...you might want to train that off dps spec;)

The real problem is finding good tanks. Finding tanks that can handle Vet DSA and Sanctum is not easy, finding tanks for Vet Dungeons and AA/Hel Ra isn't so bad because they are quite easy, honestly anyone can through on a sword/shield and tank those with ease.

This. ESO is quite different when it comes to tanking. Tanks don't hold threat just by being a Tank like in many MMO's. And many Tanks in ESO don't get how Taunt works. There's a 10s minimum before you can reapply Taunt or you risk (on the 3rd Taunt) the Boss becoming Taunt immune for a short duration. Also some people can't wrap their head around that Tanks prioritize enemies instead of trying to tank the whole room. As for Tanks not being popular, I can say on AD side (NA) Tanks are always in demand.

Finding groups in general is a pain in the a** and that's half the battle. For the vet dungeons it's even harder.

Iv run the vet dungeons many times, and have failed MULTIPLE times on each one due to either me or my teammates sucking too much:D

finding your tank is the first battle, finding a GOOD tank, is the 2nd battle. Tanking in ESO is different than what most people are used to, and many can't wrap their minds around ESO's tanking mechanics.

For EP NA, tanks are always in demand. So are healers and DPS. though DPS always seems to be found faster. As a DPS role, you will find a group eventually.

If ZOS allowed cross faction groups for dungeons: the search time would likely be at least a little shorter.
