Can we please have the option to activate abilities on button press?

Having abilities activate on button release has always felt..off to me. It was the same way in WoW for a while at first and then when they changed it over to button press it made a huge difference.

I hit the keys so fast I never notice this.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

PakKat "Everything was going well, until I died"
Gary Gravestink "I am glad you died, I needed the help"

It's only a difference of a fraction of a second but it makes using the abilities feel more fluid and natural. Some people may prefer the current system but being able to toggle this option would be nice and I've seen other players requesting addons to perform this function but I don't think that's allowed.

Maybe this is why abilities seem so sluggish to me.

I have set up my naga mouse with an macro who does button down+button up on rapid fire abilities.
However on cast at target AOE effects like healing spring or lighting flood the cast on release is very nice as it let you aim accurately.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I always thought depressing the key activated the skill, I didn't know it was the opposite.

I would rather have the bloody centered 3rd person camera so i wont miss enemies on melee range since apparently targeting arc is not in front of my character.

oh! I never realized this... never even considered it.

Abilities on button PRESS seems kind of a no-brainer. Is there a reason they have it set to button release? Is there a gameplay or tactical advantage to this?
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

Never noticed this either, but honestly...

I don't care. Even as a healer which has to cast his spells as fast as possible, I still don't care.

Let's take Breath of Life as our example.

0,2-1,5 seconds till you notice your buddy is damaged and press the button
0,05-0,1 seconds difference between button press and release
0,5? seconds between spell cast and healing reaching your buddy

(seeing that your buddy "will be damaged" and timing can reduce the difference between damage and healing to about 0,2 seconds)

Nope, the time between button press and release doesn't make the difference.

And for DDs and Tanks, it makes even less difference because they can "use" the next ability before the previous one is finished.

As I understand this I'm not the only one which buttons often don't work? (And no, the keyboard is not broken)..

It's not so much about the speed as it is about the feel of it. Right now the system just feels clunky, but if they were to change it to button press it would feel much more reactive and fluid.

doesn't feel clunky to me, but if there are people are concerned about it, why not change it.

all my skill-buttons are on my mouse so I have enough fingers to move comfortable. I have no problems with buttons that don't work, they work all the time. and I like it a lot more then having all the skills on my key-board.

The button down+up macro solved the issue for me, think its the side buttons on the naga mouse who is a bit slow to release.
Again this is needed for an placeable AOE.
