Centered Third Person Camera

I have not heard anything from ZeniMax on the status of centering the camera when in the third person view at any zoom level, so I am again posting a link to this video I made about it a few months ago.

Please give us the option to keep our camera centered all the time. I took a break from ESO for a bit to play some other games and being centered feels so much more natural and “in touch” with my character. Having the character off to the left side not only makes for some strange camera glitches (see the video), but also makes me feel somewhat disconnected from him or her.

I agree. It is really a pain when you are trying to navigate over boards and makeshift ramps without falling off.

Yes, please center the camera or give us an option to. I never understood why "Over the Shoulder" is preferred by anyone or is the only option offered by some games.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I can't see why they shouldn't be able to have a camera pan with a lock. Put the camera where you want it and lock it. Having a toggle on the UI would be nice too, in case you need to look in front of you when you move then reset to your 'locked" spot when you're done.

This is a great idea. That offest camera in third person is a load of dook and the only way to get rid of it is to zoom all the way out, which isn't usually practical in tight spaces or dungeons.

While we are at it, how about making it so terrain behind you is tranparent or invisible when your in third person so you don't constantly get your view obstructed by tree branches and leave that aren't even in front of you.

ohh yes, would love that to, it would be so much easier to target enemy's as well!!!! Zenmax please do this ;)

I can not count the times I have been fighting blind because my vision is obstructed by leaves and branches that are behind me.

It's a design decision. You fully center as you zoom out, but your toon goes off center as you zoom in so you can see their pretty visuals. Immersion FTW, baby!

How can I feel immersed if every time I try to go through a gate, door, or run over a ramp, I have to adjust for the fact that I am not seeing what my character sees?

A lot things were HASHED a long time ago. That does not mean they are correct or dead. If the camera can be centered by zooming all the way out then the function is there to center it when not zoomed out. All the OP is asking for is a switch to allow that.
I think it is a valid request and it would enhance my playing also.

OK so there is a de facto limit to the number of times someone can bring up a topic. Wow I did not know that and I stand corrected then. Even if a decision is not good as long long as it has been brought up multiple times it is considered done. OK just checking.

You're right I shouldn't have said brigade. It's just you arguing against it based on two words as if those two words were the word of God himself and immutable. As for stalking your post history, I suspect that's something you're prone to do to others. Not my cup of tea.

Now, on topic, the over the shoulder view bugged the hell out of me when I first started playing in Beta but I have learned to deal with it for the most part. I am, however, fully on the side of the argument that it should be a user setting that we can change.

And you still can't help but be insulting. Fine.

The off center view is something they have defended multiple times. My point wasn't that you are right or wrong (I personally could not possibly care less).

If they center the camera, you will still run into plenty of instances where the "world" will block your view. That's not a function of where they put the camera.

I think the shoulder cam being on by default is a perfectly valid design decision. All I am asking is to allow users to switch to a centered view if that is what they prefer. It's no different than many other in-game settings which allow users to change from a default to some other value because they prefer it that way.

They really don't allow that many options. It's a common complaint about the UI. Like it the way ZOS designed it, or go find some guy who will code an option for you for free.
