Anyone else having issues with less than solid MOBs

My Nightblade's not the most effective build but I've been soloing groups of MOBs in Craglorn. MOB tactics tend essentially to comprise of being mobbed as they all charge in towards you with missile attackers (particularly archers) standing back and hitting hard.

The problem I'm having is keeping a MOB targeted in the crush; after the initial rush MOBs tend to sort themselves out and behave as solids, bumping into each other and occupying separate space making them easier to track but until this happens I'm getting multiple MOBs occupying the same space and merging together, with various bodies and body parts moving in and out of each other making it virtually impossible to keep the MOB I'm working on targeted.

I appreciate that it's possible to <tab> lock onto a given target which would solve the targeting issue, but it's sometimes necessary to roll out of combat to deal with an archer or suchlike that targeted me and it's nice not to have to acquire a new target with <tab> and just be able to move in to attack straight away.

I was wondering whether anyone else is having problems with MOBs merging together and if locking a target is the best way to deal with it.

Hold block, aoe nuke the rushers, deal with ranged targets afterwards. The Unstoppable skill works great for this as well.
