Honor players - Title or dyes as reward

I was doing Banished Cells veteran for the first time today, and the experienced players in my group were extremely friendly, good to share their knowledge and supporting. I wanted to give them a reward for this, and it got me to thinking:

What if we could honor players? And the reward for getting a lot of honors, might be something easy but fun collectable as dyes, a title or even a pet. To not letting some friends take advantage of this, you cannot receive honor from same player more then once a day. It can work as the champion system, if you get honor from same player every day, the honors will be scaled down and less worth. This have to be account bounded, or else it easy to just log into an alt and give 8 honors to same player a day.

It should also be an option to dishonor a player for bad behavior. This is nothing that will be showed in public compared to the honor titles, but if a player receive certain number of dishonors, the player cannot receive honor points in a week or something.

This will give the game an even more grown up community, and it is easier and more fun to help and be nice to other players. Like re-questing in Craglorn to help others. A good community brings and keep good players :-)

    Sorry.. you sound sincere.. but..

    HA.. HA.. HA.. HA...
Something like this is only a way to troll other players, griefing those players a person does not like and rewarding their buds.

    NO.

It's more about the dishonor points that promotes trolling. Just look at the abuse of the 'LOL' button here, and this is only a game forum.

When concerning real game rewards with a much larger audience you can be sure that almost everyone will get spammed with dishonor points making the system a joke.

Also if you want to 'honor' someone for treating you well, just let them know you appreciate their welcoming and kind behavior. Most of the time this heartfelt thanks will mean more to a player than a vote for a title or dye.

Or send them a gift with the thanks. A few purple food items or tri-potions or filled soul gems and a heartfelt thank you is all I would need. Heck, the Thanks is enough for me.

Due to no misunderstanding, this is just an suggestion from my personal side. Just thought this would be some solution to the craglorn quests and the world bossen in zones people having problem getting help to do. It doesnt need to be an dishonor button, and it can also be as easy as only one honor pr player account in lifetime. Thats it, spamming and trolling problem solved. I must say, I am actually supprised I didnt get more support on this one. I dont see the problem with this after some adjustment. Only benefits.

The problem if there is no dishonor button, is that if people can only received reduced or limited honors by the same people then some are going to end up paying people for honors in order to get the dyes/ titles.

Yes, it is a nice idea, but in order to implement it properly so that it can be a nice feature, and not just a broken abused system would likely take more effort than it's worth.

Its probably the Dishonor Button that got you dinged.

A nice way to send Kudos to a player is a good thing. People will only tend to send that if the person is deserving in some way. Although it would be more subjective than objective, in this case it is the perception that counts. "Was this person helpful to me?" is all that one would need to consider.

However a dishonor button would be used by people just for lulz and would have little to no subjective or objective viewpoint.

Because the bottom line is, people who go to help someone are people who are helpful to others, not someone who is going to intentionally try and ruin a game experience. Sure, someone can get in over their heads, like someone asked me to do Razzaks wheel last night at VR10 and I was still a VR7. I probably could have handled it, but I told them straight up, I would prefer a third player with us.

Totally support you OP. If you skip the dishonored part and just give titles. I see no downside If it is account wide and have the restriction you mentioned .
I m surprised too that such feature don t have more success .

There's a simple solution that doesn't involve dyes or achievements. In SWG, everyone had access to a title called "Helper". Anyone who saw that title above your head knew they could ask you to help them with a question, quest, or whatever. No reward necessary, although most players did tip the helper afterwards.

I see comments on people who doesnt think dishonor is good, and someone say we need dishonor to make this work. I was also thinking after posting this, about people paying for the achievement. I am trying to think how to avoid that. I dont know.

Again this is just an idea I had, since I am fan of a good community, both in games and in real life. And if this will prevent rage quitters from raging, I am ok with some people "buying" this achievement. And if players want to spend so much money on the achievement, be my guest.

They did something like this in another MMO and it did not make the community any more grown up. It made speed runs happen more so that they could get up voted super quick and head to the next group.

Just because it didnt work in other mmo's. doesnt mean it wouldnt work here, with some thinking, testing and adjustments. This world, this earth, doesnt need poeple saying: It will never work.

We can see billions of light years away. It is over 60 years since we landed on the moon.. And you guys, are telling me, that it is not possible to prevent ragers in mmo's? Well, callenged accepted.. and I just know, players have issues of trouble finish world bosses and public dungeons. And like @schroed360 's link says. This will be another reason for doing dungeons over again to help people who came a bit late that day.

I would make it so that you cannot give honor points to people you made a prease group with (if you used lfg tool), people on your friend list and perhaps even guild but not so sure about this onec so that you cannot exploit (that easily). And yeah, daily limit as you wrote before. Some other games do this and it works fine in my opinion.

It's a lovely idea in theory but in reality if such a system was implemented zone chat and guild chats would be full of:

    WTT Honors pst
    WTB Honors 1k
    WTS Honors 2,500

    And so on.

And you guys, are telling me, that it is not possible to prevent ragers in mmo's?

MMOs have been out how long vs all the other achievements you listed? And, after 15 years of MMOs, let me tell you.. "ragers" have become MORE intense and MORE obscene and MORE ...worse than you can imagine with each year and each MMO. They have become more demanding, more mini/max and less understanding of those who dont have their "uberness". If there is a system that can be abused or exploited, someone will do just that. I have watched it happen, repeatedly.

I feel as other said this would be abused.

Say I don't PUG and want honour points, what's to stop me from starting a give honour and get honour deal in my guild?

Each day when a player logs in, they go down the guild roster giving an honour to each player. I like the idea behind it however this could also be achieved by simply giving players gold or sharing their names as a good player.

It will be cool to honor those who make ESO a wonderful game, but there is HUGE problem. It opens a can of worms, trolls-r-us and abuse. Sadly, I have to vote "no" to this idea.

So because someone can get an achievement without earning it, means we cannot do this? I have a title over me ingame, it says dragonstar arena champion. I will tell you a secret, I didnt earn that achievement. Someone in the guild for some reason, was only 3 people at last boss, and needed a damage dealer. I teleported strait to last boss. I had a bow, no good gear, did almost no damage. I had no idea what I did, and they took the boss while I was laying in the grass, dead, covered in flames.
But I am still carry a title over me, but this doesnt affect the gameplay. I dont get more money or better gear of this. I am not a better player.

So if there are some idiots out there, who will troll and take advantage of this, just to get a title or a pet or something else, we cannot avoid that. But in long terms and overall, It might sort of some problem. But pls dont come here and tell me that this idea will make it worse. I fully understand some of the issues it maybe would bring, but common.. be postivie and see some solutions.

Honor them with a friend request (which you probably did)
Honor their actions by letting as many people as will listen know that there are still good people playing this game (which you have)
Things like that actually build up the community imo; not dyes, titles, and trinkets

I agree with the idea of OP.I m totally agree too with the 2 comments I just quote.I see there a good way to force poeple being nice^^.Just allow to give vote AFTER the daily quest completition .Meaning a) only once a day
    b) let s look at the comment we stated above(quote)
-WTT points : just poeple used to run the pledge quickly usually with their friend or guilde that will look for similar profile. Main point is getting the job done efficiently without pain.So those poeple would not hurt anyone they are already playing a lot more with poeple they know.

-WTB points : probably someone that actually need help to finish the dungeon because he is a bit alone on the game or miss skill to legitimately earn those point. Someone get gold to help him ? Good for both !

WTS points : exactly the same as above but from the point of.view of a skilled player who wanna "help "for gold.

So based on those hyphotesis ""bad "" poeple will not become ""good"" but will have incencitive to behave as a mercenary .
And from my point of view having mercenary is not a bad thing.I mean mercenary want their reward and if in order to do so they get the job done efficiently. This is better than just counting on good poeple( because I m not really sure that now there is so much poeple who are able to speed run the 2pledge in less than an hour that are so kind that they don t care to spend 3 hour in just the vet one...)
