[Suggestion] Multiple Potion Timers, or I Am A Potion Junkie

As it is, all potions share the same timer. The problem with this is not all potions are created equal: few people would use their 30s timer for a 4s Invisibility potion instead of a health, magicka and stamina triple restore potion. The result is we have a number of interesting alchemical effects, but many remain unused.

My suggestion is to lump alchemical effects into a three broad groups, and give each group a separate timer. For potions that include effects from multiple groups, drinking it puts the timer of every group it has an effect in into cooldown.

Group 1:
Health, Magicka, Stamina

Group 2:
Weapon Power, Spell Power, Weapon Crit, Spell Crit, Armour, Spell Resist

Group 3:
Invisibility, Detection, Speed, Unstoppable

Example: Drinking a spell power + spell crit + magicka potion will put health potions and armour potions into cooldown, but will not affect invisibility potions.

Hell no. This is exactly what would happen. Players would be constantly popping triple stat health pot + spell power/crit pot + unstoppable pot every 30 seconds.

If they want to invest a fortune quaffing every potion they could, why shouldn't they be able to? Plus you do know Unstoppable potions last 3-4s, right? Quaffing it on cooldown would pretty much waste it. Same goes for Invisibility pots.

Before they ever do this they should do 1 drink and 1 food active at the same time.
And so did many brave men, women, and beast fall to the end of Beta, never to be heard from again. All that is left, is whispers of the adventures they had.

The Provisioning update is coming in Update 6, which may do this. But this is irrelevant.

    Sometimes instead of a tripot I use a unstoppable/invisible/healing potion (entoloma + columbine + namira's).

An interesting potion (very useful for getting out of a stun-burst I expect), but you're in the minority. The only potions that sell are tripots and power, crit and resource pots, which should point to how the majority of the player base uses potions.

I think this should only be possible if you invest skills point in a high level of alchemy in a new passive.

only then should potions like that have seperate cooldowns, but decrease the effectiveness of all potions in some small way to keep a level of gameplay balance.

I'm happy with the current 30s CD which ANY potion starts on consumption, which can already be dropped to 15s.

If they want to invest a fortune quaffing every potion they could, why shouldn't they be able to? Plus you do know Unstoppable potions last 3-4s, right? Quaffing it on cooldown would pretty much waste it. Same goes for Invisibility pots.

Isn't the shared cooldown benefitial to PVP? Invisibility plus a huge health/magicka/stamina pation sounds rather odd to me.

The point is a lot of utility effects only last for a short while (invisibility and unstoppable last 3s, 4s if you use three ingredients), their effects don't really compare to the power of tripots or power-crit-resource pots. Yes they are situationally useful, but since they lock out more powerful pots you rarely want to use them.

This would require some balancing (maybe a 25% effect reduction to the 2nd potion withing 30 seconds, 50% to the 2nd, etc.) but I think it's a great idea. :)

I understood the point. My question was rather aimed at the necessity for shared cooldowns especially in PVP. If I could pop an invisibility potion directly followed by a huge healing potion, that would put me (and anyone else of course) at an advantage that probably was intentionally left out.
You either escape (if you succeed) by popping invisibility, or you heal yourself. At least that's the way I understand it.
