VR Players Farming Low Level Dolmens - The Incentive?

I'll do it to practice my healing, I won't do any fighting unless the lower level players are about to die and my heals won't save them.

Soloing anchors is easy. Run away after each kill. Been doing it for months. Is there anyone playing this game who doesn't?

This really made me laugh, it is clearly a nightblade way of thinking haha

As a dk i always stay and drop a standard or two, even solo at a vet 10 dolmen, if it not enough i just die

Running away never even came to mind before i read this :smile:

I been using evil hunter + bombard/heavy + pots....while staying as far away and on the move as possible solo.
All this time I could have just run away....never even realised.
    LOL
    *** hum. Was fun anyway.

Problem comes in when you get into that habit.

You drop the four mobs you ran away from on top of the head of the sucker who just arrived and popped a heal on you or tried to actually fight it. They leash back TO HIM. Pretty sure you are not rezing him, just laughing at his foolishness.

Oh, and I am an "everything needs to be white BEFORE I LEAVE THE ZONE" type.

Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

    Achievements.

I do my Dolmen grinding in Cyrodiil or silver and gold zones. Grinding in low lvl zones is about convenience. They don't care how it may effect your experience. Not against ToS or an exploit. So we have to learn to live with it.

A surprising number do care, actually. It's just that the ones who don't - and clearly don't - are disproportionately....memorable ;)
Most care also most low level players are just interested of getting the done dolmen achievement and the xp.

An V14 achivement farmer saved my lvl 11 alt and two new players who wiped on an dolmen :) We got the achievement and the loot.

For world bosses its common to make sure the others get hits, think everybody get achivements for dolmens as long as they hit anything.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I did this too, however I would have greatly preferred to do it in my Vet zones for loot and XP .. but with a much lower probability this achievement would have taken 60 hours instead of 20, if not more. Couldn't do that

I am VR14 and chasing achievements. It takes a REALLY large number to get every general that shows up randomly depending on the zone. If lower level players are there, I switch to a purely healing mode until the boss shows up, I take a shot or two and let everyone else finish.

Okay guys, I really do get it :)

But now I understand why so many folks seem in such a bad mood....the things they make us do...oy vey.

You've got your core loop in games - a cycle of generally fun activities that produce a little jolt of dopamine.

But in MMOs you also have what I'm fond of calling the STD loop. No, not that kind of STD but the the S*hit To Do loop....crafting, resource gathering, activities that walk a line between low stress and boredom that feed or modify the core loop.

Although I'm rather fond of the core loop in this game I think the other...well...needs some work ;)

Yes, someone said something about bosses. Where things became less than cordial is when I asked why they weren't doing it at Dark Anchors on their own level.

Dumb question, granted. Obviously they're getting credit for these low level ones, and they're not doing it for a sporting challenge but as a grind.
Actually the real reason they don't do them at their own level is because vet zones' generals are random. In non vet zones, it's iirc 4 generals a zone so you have much better chance of catching the one you need, not the other 15 ones.

Also, I decided to screw it and did them all on my own lvl. Vet 10 at the time. ~200 vet 10 dolmens, most of them solo, last 70 or so just to catch that ever eluding me Ever-Open Eye general:) Fun times. I caught the generals for like half my friendlist and guildies - called out the boss and dolmen when I got something special they needed xD

Yes, but what do getting all these Generals get you I wonder.

"Daedra Lord Slayer" title and unlocks a shade of red dye.

I am guilty of doing this myself, for a bit. I'd really like to have that title and that red color.

As another guy pointed out, I made an effort to be conscious of other players. I got the pinion achievement in no time, and once I nabbed that I never touch the pinions now so others can get them. I'll start it up, but then usually sit back and only get involved if the other player(s) are overwhelmed. Only do enough damage to get credit, as there is another achievement for total anchors destroyed as well.

There has been a rumor that if you allow all 4 pinions to stay up until all daedra have dropped, then close the pinions, it increases the chance of general's popping. Though I doubt this is true.

As also stated by another, the pop rate of those generals is pretty bad. AS I said "for a bit" I simply have run out of patience for it.

Sadly, I am guilty of this too. Though I've rarely ran into other players doing it. I suppose it's a matter of peak time vs off time choices to get the necessary grinding done.

And while I am sure there are some less than sparkly personalities doing the same - I can say with confidence that the overwhelming majority of us going for the achievement/dye are actively avoiding disturbing at level players.

Think the worst it's gotten is me shield charging in on my tank when the general spawns. Happened once that I recall. Watched the lowbies do the anchor instead of doing it myself. Everyone got credit, but people still sent mean spirited whispers.

Can't win for losing on this issue.

Of course. It's design induced discord, of which there are many examples.

It's a way to extend the content I suppose which folks were saying was too thin at max level.

Hey - I finally got to do a Dark Anchor ON LEVEL and IN DESHAAN last night!

Just me and a Khajiit too.

Don't know what happened to the VR 14 Drag Queen Marching Band....had seen 'em earlier in those colorful uniforms, pumping their batons in the air that spew fire out the top. Marching for more dyes for their outfits.

Got me to thinking that instead of the Mannimarco disguise for hitting VR 10...

How about this instead? Seems more appropriate somehow...

Firstly, this is a question, not a complaint.

I'm starting over on the EU server, meaning there are folks online when I am....

    What am I missing here?
    @bellanca6561n‌

Hey - I just started over this week on the EU server - same reasons! *Hi!*

They are farming Molag Bal's generals - but I am sure someone has answered.
