Where art thou Runestones?!

Ore nodes spawn near rocky outcrappings, wood nodes spawn near trees, cloth nodes spawn in fields: so what the hell do runes spawn near? Been trying to figure that one out and I can't see a pattern, it seems random as hell.

It is random they can spawn anywhere, but it usually offers some cover, ie you can't see it from one direction (no, not the band  ).

Check everywhere, especially near rocks and trees. Well when I say check, I really mean keep an eye open.

He is correct, they are well hidden off the beaten path, but finable. For a starter I found one hiding just outside the starting area by a wayshire ;)

1). Caves in Cyrodiil. Mostly Aspect runestones. Respawn quickly.
2). Near ruins. Seems like I see a lot tucked in around the structures outside of Ayleid ruin entrances.
3). Near water. Seems like I see a lot near lakes and streams and stuff like that. But not as much along open coastlines.
4). Craglorn. Might not necessarily be more numerous here, but there is not as much in the way of grasses and flowers and trees and stuff like that, so they seem easier to spot.

Also, the distinctive triangular green/red/blue glow can be seen from far away at night. So if you are gonna go on a runestone hunt, it might be best to wait until nightfall in Tamriel.

If you're VR I recommend going to the VR starter aisles and just running around. They're relatively uninhabited, there's almost no critters there and you can just vacuum up runestones and resources uninhibited.

Definitely good advice. Turn off Grass, set view distance all the way up, and then run around at night. You will find so many that you normally would have missed.

Bleakrock is one of the best places for that in the vet zones. Given the snowy area the runes stand out more and it's almost always nightfall there, too. It's the best place I've found. I can generally find 2-3 Kuta a night.

Damn that is a lot of kuta, my damn hireling might give me one once a month.

Aspect runes are the easiest to find as the red glow is more easily seen from a distance. But one thing rune hunters don't always realize is you need to get EVERY runestone you see. Period. Even if you don't need it. Any runestone can spawn in those locations, so if you only harvest aspect, it reduces the chance of of the kind of runestone you want spawning. Likewise, harvest everything, and it greatly increases the chances of Aspect runes popping up.

I think at one point I had some 50+ Rekuta just from running circles around Bleakrock. It's also excessively boring, but... Bleakrock VR was the magic land for me. I got more Runestones there than anywhere else (it's fairly flat and with lots of open area making them easy to spot).

Get the Harvest Node add on and it will remember where you find nodes so you can go back and get them again. There are many places in the game where I have found 3 or 4 nodes real close to each other, but I never remember where they are.

You still have to find them the first time, but after, you can just follow the markers. And, remember it takes about 15 minutes for them to spawn after someone else harvests them.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
