Lottery in Tamriel

Hello Everyone,

I would like to have your thoughts on this

So i have this idea of creating a guild that will only provide a single service to its members: the lottery! For example, the members wishing to enter the lottery will be asked to purchase tickets, say at 1000 gold each (max 5 per member), and the drawing would take place twice a week. If there are 100 tickets sold then the prize money will be 100 000 gold. I am thinking of dividing the prize as follow:

Winner gets 50% of total prize
Second: 30%
Third: 20%

For the drawing it will be randomized using excel functions.

Why am i doing this? Just for fun really, don't plan to make any gold out of it. I have seen many players in the forums saying they didn't have enough gold or just would like to have even more. I think this is a good way to help players get more gold.

I plan on starting this on the Ebonheart Pact and then to other alliances if it works well.

What do you think?
Would that be a good idea?
Would you like to participate if it is available?

Thanks

There are many guilds that have regular lotteries. Feel free to join in the fun!The guild I'm in that has lotteries, raffles, drawings, etc, is the guild Ethereal Traders Union. Send me a message if you'd like to join in!

Or, by all means, start your own lottery! It's a fun way to get the community involved and it gives some players a leg up with some extra gold. ;)
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

I think your intention is nice but you may encounter some challenges re transparency if there was ever a dispute over how much the prize pool really was and how the winners were drawn. Not sure if there is anything in the TOS re virtual gambling either :)

You would need to have very clear documentation of funds and a couple of guild officers to verify outcomes but even then it might end up being more of a headache for you then it is worth.

Where this has been done before people have used real world lottery draw numbers to avoid any accusations of rigging the system. Doesn't avoid the issue of how much money is collected though.

Hope you come up with a viable solution :)

Yes, i see what you are saying. If the money collected is 150 000 gold but the pool prize is 100 000 gold then yes it will be easy to suspect fraud.

But i like your idea of officers checking the documentation and results.

Oh and i just thought of a way to easily check how much gold is collected. Once a member purchase a ticket, i will right a note next to their Id in the guild rooster with the amount provided and the number of ticket purchased.

That would solve the pool prize issue.

Don't open the guild store and do ticket purchases through the guild bank. Complete transparency thanks to the guild bank log.
    Thank Stendarr it’s Fredas.
