The Journal

Hey all,

I would like to read your thoughts on what improvements you would like to see in the journal. I would like it to give more information such as recipes I know, potions I have discovered, traits I know and a count down for the ones I am currently researching, items I have sold with the price they sold for. I am sure there is more I will think of later. Lets see some of the ones you would like.

I think you pretty much covered everything for me!! But, whenever spellcrafting comes out, I want to know what spells I've found

Sous Chef, Research Timers or AI Research Grid, and Guild Store are 3 addons you need to look at.

Me, I just want to have control over my notifications and have those notifications tell me something useful beyond a guildmate completed a trial in a certain time (it only tells me the name of one player and not even the guild as far as I can tell) and something better than something sold in a guild store for x amount.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Gary Gravestink "I am glad you died, I needed the help"

A couple other cool things would be a bestiary with a description and any exploitable weakness. Plus the ability to make small personal notes in the journal.

I want a story recapping the stories I have been through. Like a recap of quests when I complete them but from my point of view like I wrote it.

Yes I have the addons that you mentioned, and they are nice. I would still like to be able to open a journal to see all this information through an end games means all in one place.

I remember the character creator from Daggerfall would do something similar giving you a back ground story then updating as you went along. Of course Daggerfall had a tendency to bug out so you lost a lot of information.

But if they added it into the base UI, when the authors of those mods decide to discontinue them, it won't matter anymore

Sounds like a trend in Elder Scrolls games.

Sometimes I find random books that are not "Lorebooks" that seem interesting to read, but often when I find them they will be in a dangerous area, so all I have time to do is quickly open them and then close them again to go fight the monsters that would try to jump me while I'm reading.

What I'm getting at is, I wish the Journal would keep track of EVERY book you find throughout the world. There are times where I just want to stop and sit at the tavern and just whip out a random book I discovered while traveling through some dungeon.
A good amount of the Lorebooks I've found are pretty fascinating and often the best time to read them is later when I'm safely inside of a town. That convenience is nice, but I would love for it to be spread to all readable books. I also have enjoyed reading the Motif books, so I wish those would be recorded in the journal as well since they are only able to be read once and afterwards they disappear.

Isn't that part of the Eidetic Memory you get at the end of the Mages Guild quest? It most certainly doesn't just track lore books.

I get what your saying but I think the solution is for there to be an actual book you can pick up. To me the journal is more of an informative guide to where you have been and a brief description of the knowledge accumulated.

I had no idea, I'm not that far in the Mages Guild questline, but I look forward to acquiring that ability.
If that's the case than ignore my post about the tracking all books in the journal.

I do support other ideas for the journal though. I loved the idea of being able to post your own personal notes in the journal. If I could keep track of my own notes in game, I wouldn't need my paper Notepad labeled "ESO Notes". lol
