Dueling Feature

I'm mostly a PvE player but do appreciate Cyrodiil and like to do PvP sometimes. It would be great to have a way to practice with my fellow alliance. Plus, dueling would be a lot of fun.

Is dueling a feature we might have in ESO at some point?

Who would be in favor of it?

I am only okay with it if the following stipulations are added:

    1) You need to set yourself to be flagged as accepting duel invites. Basically, you shouldn't get duel invites unless you purposely allow yourself to get them.

    2) No dueling in cities.

    100% agree

    Agree with the first one.

Why no dueling in cities though - worried about performance issues (too much going on on screen)?

I would be, it doesn't take much to start getting lagg in the cities/towns.

Yeah for sure. I can see it getting out of hand actually.

Maybe instead, there could be an arena area opened up and dueling would only be allowed there.

It's been discussed that dueling is something the developers would like to do, but in the current scope of things there are more pressing matters to attend to regarding game features. Eventually there will be a specific mechanic to duel methinks.

Until then you can look forward to the justice system, and make sure to be the opposite law/crime faction of those you want to duel with (i.e. be a do-gooder if your partner is a criminal, and vice versa.)

It's not great for spontaneous random duel encounters like many of us associate with the term. However it gives you an option to, in an organized fashion if you choose to, participate in the 1v1 combat that is the closest we get to dueling.

If you want to duel before then, join a dueling guild and be happy with dueling some new guildmates whos main characters are on opposite factions, that's what I did. :P

Sounds good, would also solve the must be flagged for duelling issue, because if you didn't want to duel you would avoid the arena.

We have been begging and fighting for a legimate dueling system since ESO's inception. The best you'll get out of the dev team is that they "aren't against a dueling feature".

So yeah. Why there wasnt one at launch, who knows. Why there STILL isn't one, your guess is as good as mine.

Same for arenas, they still aren't in. Especially since quakecon had a working arena mode why on earth would they bother tossing that in? /angrysarcasm

I'm guessing @Thejollygreenone‌ is correct in that adding this sort of thing just isn't a priority right now. But it's good to know this has already been discussed and hopefully ZoS is aware that it's something people want.

After thinking more about it, I think the Justice System will fill the gap when it comes to random PvP encounters outside of Cyro. If we could then also get an Arena somewhere to partake in voluntary duels we'd be set.

I really want a duel feature... I played in Cyro today and for the first time realized this zerg-y nature of pvp really does not suit me at all. I hope ZOS starts catering for those who would like a 1v1 system - thus far this game doesn't entirely deliver on the "play-as-you-want" feature they so heavily touted.

Yeah, this is what I was just thinking, too. If they keep the dueling contained in a specific location, they'll eliminate the reasons for most objections (spamming and lag).

Maybe the Imperial City will include this type of thing. I don't know much about it except that it's another PvP area which is supposed to lend more to small scale fights. At least I think that's what it is... correct me if I'm wrong.
