Cash store updates? race change, extra char slots etc?

Hi guys,

its been over 6months since launch now, and i'm SO glad that the cash shop did not kill the game. very happy that they didn't get greedy and add pay to win things into the game. However, what do you guys feel about adding in some updates such as race change tokens, extra char slots, name change...?

I mean nothing that will make anyone more powerful than anyone else. You can argue the extra char slot might do this in a slight way, (more hirelings)... so maybe dont add a char slot.

I'm interested in what you guys think about adding race change tokens and name change tokens to the game? And would love to hear if Zos have any plans to add these in the future. I see this as a win win, as its not pay to win, people will be happy if they need these tokens, and zos gets more money to maybe hire someone to make the patch not 12gigs:)

But they won't respond unless they have useful info, which they won't about what you are asking about.

I think name change tokens would be nice, I also remember playing a game where you could buy Pet Color Crystals. You would use them on a mount of yours, that was called a pet in this particular game, and then you could change them to red, blue, white, whatever color the crystal is.

NO I DON'T WANT BLUE OR YELLOW HORSES. This game had dragon mounts, so the colors made more sense.

So, I think those would be cool too if they did actual horse colors like... brown, white, black, spotted white and black, spotted white and brown, tan... colors like those would be nice

I don't want any of that stuff added unless there is an option to purchase it in game by amassing a truly legendary amount of in-game gold or something.

-500k per character slot. An additional 200k in addition to the 500k for everyone one you purchase after the first.
-1 million gold per race change. Can only be done once every 6 months.

*Prices decrease by 10% for every 6 months you are subbed to the game up to a maximum of 30%.

One million gold for a race change, harsh, really harsh, I agree with the once per six months though.

When you look at wanting race changes you have to realize that you are wanting something that alters stats, and thus affects gameplay. I don't see that happening. Name changes and APPEARANCE changes, however, affect nothing and I am totally for them.

Yeah, you're probably right about race changes, not that I want to change my races, I'm actually happy with what I have.

Mind you, name changes, that I do want, I can add Surnames to my characters (I know stupid me for forgetting them in the first place).

There's all kinds of good reasons to advocate for name changes though. Maybe you felt rushed at launch and now have a name you'd just rather have. Maybe you're a roleplayer whose character got married or gained a title. Maybe you're a criminal on the run and need to change your identity. It's really not a big deal to do a name change, requires miniscule resources, and there's really just no good reason NOT to have the ability to do it.

To everyone saying "no cash shop at all" - you are aware ESO already has a cash shop, right? It sells the Imperial Edition upgrade and the palomino horse. ZOS is also selling vanity pets elsewhere.

IMO cash shop items and services should be purely cosmetic. So name change, appearance change (though I'd prefer to have a barber shop available to everyone in the game), vanity pets, things like that. Race change and character slots affect gameplay, which rules them out.

NO CASH SHOPS! We pay a sub for a reason and ESO is NOT and should NOT copy F2P type games. It already have to much of a cash shop already and should be lessen it.

And a lot of us like myself where against it. Others want to be charged more. I don't know why they just feel that $15 a month is not enough to pay so you can play. I guess they want to pay more so they can unlock stuff without playing. Essentially these people want to pay not to play.......I don't understand what gaming has come to.

If Zenimax is going to expand their cash-shop, I would hope that it would only be cosmetic.
-Name Changes
-Costumes
-Vanity Pets
-Appearance change (not including race)
-etc.

I would even be ok with things like selling mounts that are already available in game (i.e buying a Draft Horse for 42,700g~ in the game or 10 dollars in cash shop). But that's only because you are paying for quick convenience.

But overall, I am content with the way Zennimax has their cash shop already.

Some people think of it as plushie with a bonus pet - but if you care about pets, you might see it as a pet with a bonus plushie. Either way, if the pet is not available anywhere else then yes, they're selling it for $20 + shipping costs. Which is why a few forum mebers have told ZOS time and time again that if they insist on selling them, they should put them in the cash shop for a reasonable price instead of this plushie BS.

Its a slippery slope be careful what you wish for.

LOTRO started as an awesome game and went downhill steadily as the micro-transactions took over. Once the master company sees the $ the emphasis on dev time changes. What starts as cosmetic changes soon progresses to all sorts of cash options and invasive store pop-ups and buttons. They put a team on it and before long that team makes more money than the content team.

Now LOTRO is a game with minimal development, massive grind and all sorts of shortcuts to that grind via store transactions. Also p2w is dominant in pvp.

Be quiet, be happy with your name and race and keep micro-transactions out of this game or see the game you love vanish in favour of nasty $$ making initiatives.

i just want race changer since they dont impact that badly or appearence reset i'd be good that and vanity pets that dont break immersion no flying bullnetch mounts that emit sparkles from a rainbow queef. or skeletal dremora horses. for once dont ever add a flaming skeleton horse or you'll be labeled wow lol.

pet dogs cats nixhounds would be nice lol. but overall i'd love an appearence reset potion thing.

Race and Alliance changes would be the only things that ZOS should be incurring an additional Charge to do.. other appearance only things for fun purposes only are also ideal, as they hold no destructive influence on game play.

Explain how exactly a name change, Faction change, Race change or hell even an appearance change in a cash shop is somehow locking any player out of content?

You need to learn a little more about MMO's before making comments. Blizzard was the majority factor in really bringing cash shops to light with WoW and everyone pays a sub in that game. They are the undefeated king of micro transactions. There is literally nothing wrong with having an option to pay to change your name, or your Race, or Faction, or appearance, or gender, especially if those cash shop options have a variant for in game purchase via gold so players can do it without paying extra RL money.
