Stamina over time cost for blocking

Greetings,

I find it insane, how sword and shield users in PvP can use their gap close like forever and can block forever and break every cc and never seem to run out of stamina. The perma block is a very big problem in my opinion.

You should really think about adding a stamina over time cost for blocking. So that you can block for a few seconds, and it will then cost more and more stamina, the longer you keep the block up and are forced, to open the damn turtle for a few seconds. So that people even have a chance, to deal some damage. This infinte block is really annoying for me.

Forgive my harsh words, I'm just a bit angry. I just had some 1vs1 with DK tanks and it annoys me so much, how they appearantly have infinite stamina :)

Time to reroll to the only class in the game that can do it all and do it the best, the all-powerful DK!

    Good luck!

I was surprised when I found out that this wasn't how it worked. It just makes sense to me. There's pretty much no negative consequences to holding block 24/7. You should need to time your blocks for them to be the most effective IMO.

I hear with Update 1.7, we will have three classes.
    1. DK Tanks
    2. DK DPS
    3. DK Healers

All other classes will be done away with and transferred into one of the above three, except for Sorcerers. We'll just point and laugh at them.

Is there a class out there with group Damage buffs or perhaps a group absorb damage buff? This class would make a great support class.

You do know the blocking mechanics work exactly the same for EVERY class, right? Doesn't matter what weapon you are using either.

the only reason people block like that constantly is because they can block cast and have NO penalties for it. Remove the ability to block cast and watch how people start making different decisions when all they can do is either block OR cast. Not both.

Granted there is the defense bonus of reduced damage. Which is the MAIN reason. The block casting is just a happy bonus to it (which ZoS will probably never fix)

If it counts for anything, Dragonknight has a Molten Weapons as a group damage buff and Fragmented Shield as a group damage mitigation buff.
It was not my intention to make a "Dragonknight is the best class for every role" post, it just happened that way when looking over the class skills. D:

I somewhat agree; certainly all of these are detrimental to the long-term health of the game. There would be considerable work required to rebalance PVE encounters to support the proposed mechanics, but I think we would have a better game on our hands once everything was worked out.

I'm pretty sure that ZOS are going to keep the Emo NB's in the game.

The player base have asked many times for target dummies after all.
Been here since Feb 2014 - You'd think I'd be half reasonable at this game by now...

I would say something similar about templars, but I think devs took the fact they were the botters first choice a bit too personally.

You need to start using direct damage abilities. How about trying a healing debuff skill in combination with the direct damage?

Horrible idea, with terrible consequences for PvE tanking, affecting the other 3 classes without having anything to do with your problem.

You can't beat a turtling DK in PvP, and that's the problem. Not Blocking per se.

Yes less blocking and more archers sitting back killing people. I mean why would we want melee to survive in the middle of the zerg for more the a few seconds,

How many times did that tank you encountered level up stamina instead of the all-mighty health?

Nah Sorcerors will always remain important to the group, they're just going to be renamed 'Negaters'

Throw caltrops to zap the stamina out of those perma-block+casting.
    PC NA

Games are meant to be played.

Back in Auriel's Bow 1.0, I have thought that the best way to handicap a faction with the HUGE pop advantage is to temporarily disable their grouping functionality and their ability to fight in 3rd person point of view! Let's see if these do not even up the odds.

Terrible idea, would kill off the very few melee players left. Block casting should be looked at, so should shield stacking that makes some of these light armour wearing guys seem like mighty tanks.

But adding a stamina cost for simply holding block alone would be terrible, not just for PvP but PvE too. The PvE guys must really get sick of us PvP players. Constant whining.

So force everyone into absorb shield stacking builds to make up for the fact very few people in this thread understand blocking

Here is a question, how many of you dual wield axes or use two handed axe over swords?
