Tamriel Holiday Festival Patch - Hope it's added Sooner rather than Later

As we head into the holiday season, I really wish we could all enjoy holiday festivals within ESO. The developers really need to consider adding holiday festivals for special occasions, which are based on the Tamriellic Calendar. This is not only important from a design decision, but also important from a business design (re-subbing for new content to enjoy). Adding holiday events also makes the world feel more alive while giving players more content to enjoy, such as holiday specific quest-lines, achievements, collectibles, recipes, etc. The developers could even make each holiday festival last for approximately 1 week, so everyone has the chance to enjoy them. We need something to break off the normal routine. Listed below are some holidays Zenimax could add to ESO...

New Life Festival - January
Today the people of Tamriel are having the New Life Festival in celebration of a new year. The tradition of free ale at all the taverns of Tamriel continues.

Heart's Day - February
This holiday is celebrated all over Tamriel as Heart's Day. It seems that in every house, the Legend of the Lovers is being sung for the younger generation.

The Day of the Dead - April
The superstitious say that the dead rise on this holiday to wreak vengeance on the living.

Merchants's Festival - July
The bargain shoppers of the known world are out in force today and it is little wonder, is a holiday called the Merchants's Festival. Every marketplace and equipment store has dropped their prices to at least half.

Harvest's End - August
Perhaps no other festival fires the spirit of Tamriel as much as the one held today, Harvest's End. The work of the year is over, the seeding, sowing, and reaping. Now is the time to celebrate and enjoy the fruits of the harvest, and even visitors to the celebrated region are invited to join the farmers. The taverns offer free drinks all day long, an extravagance before the economy of the coming winter months.

Witches's Festival - October
Known throughout Tamriel as the Witches's Festival when sorcery and religion clash.

Warriors Festival - November
Most all the local warriors, spellswords, and rogues come to the equipment stores and blacksmiths where all weapons are half price.

New Life Festival - December
Originally a holiday for a long forgotten god of debauchery, it has become a time of gift giving, parties, and parading.

Great idea... imagine how much they could break with a nice holiday festival patch. :P

They really do need to do this. I just don't see it happening in the first year. It's obviously going to take them that long just to learn to stop breaking 5 things for every single new thing they add. :(

This is probably the most awesome post I have seen in a long time! Yes yes and YES! They should impliment every holiday that is mentioned in the lore, that fit with the era - that would be spectacular

So board of EQ2, WoW, GW2 and other games xmas and other holiday rubbish. Kinda glad theres nothing in ESO this year at least. I would hope they make content for holidays in the game lore and do not tie up lame events to tie into real life holidays.

They have already said they do not intend to introduce holiday content. Period. End of story!

They need a Flatulence Day to honor all the elves.

It was in a thread last week when someone was asking about possible Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday content and ZOS jumped in and said they have no plans to introduce any type of holiday content in the foreseeable future.

Not interested in finding the thread.

    Actually, what was said was:
In-game Tamrielic holiday events are something we'd love eventually do, but they are not currently on our development roadmap. What would you all like to see?

Interpretation may vary, but there was no absolute statement about their intent for adding holidays.

LOL! Coming from ZOS that is about as big and fat of a NO that you can possibly get.

Interpretations definitely do vary from optimistic, to pessimistic, to REALISTIC!

Your interpretation doesnt make your original statement any less false.

Considering the fact that the majority of MMOs, especially the subscription MMOs that are considered ESO's 'competition', have seasonal/holiday content (or even acknowledgement) it's more realistic to assume they will come eventually. The degree may very and open to interpretation (FFXIV decked out cities on one side of the spectrum, to a small Life Day package in TOR on the other), but to assume that throughout the entire life span of ESO there will be no holidays is a little presumptuous.

    Just sayin.

I understand what you are saying but after seeing the ZOS track record I honestly think that something like this is just completely out of their reach ability-wise.

I think they realize that too and understand that it would just be a waste of resources on their end and a new frustration magnet for the playerbase.

    Only time will tell.

If their holiday festival patch is nothing but bug fixes, and they didn't break anything else in the process, I'd completely approve of it.

I'm sure they could add festivals next year if they had a small team work on it part time.

My suspicion is that IF they ever manage to nail down how to NOT constantly break their own game then maybe next year we may see out first Tamrielic holiday....probably the winter one at the end of the year.

I honestly wouldn't hold my breath. They're too busy trying to please the MMO side of this crowd by nerfing this and buffing that and redesigning the progression so they don't un-subscribe.

Those of us who want things like Tamrielic holidays are more likely to stay subscribed out of love of TES... so the things we would like to see in the game aren't a priority because if we don't see it added NOW.... we wont unsubscribe.

I would think so but ZOS seems to have a different strategy in mind when it comes to keeping this game alive.

Only in VR areas. The L1-50 zones have a set timeline where certain festivities are already in place.
