A closer look at inventory management for Veteran level - Feedback

This discussion is designed to show other players and ZoS developpers what players do at Veteran level to store the items that they want to keep.
With all my characters, I currently have 1426 inventory slots, 1092 of which are being used.

I'm sure everyone has their own method but nobody (or almost nobody) is doing it without mules after reaching vet content and crafting a bit.
Here's mine:

Character #1, VR14, trials and endgame content, 70/170 inventory.
oDR92Q3.png
Mostly alternative gear, potions and food, with also some materials and fishing bait that I'm likely to encounter.
Space is required to easily switch to a Light Horse for speed runs and still have enough room left to collect drops.

Character #2, VR7, currently leveling Cadwell's Gold, 84/170 inventory.
yC2wQkp.png
This one still has potions and food, but no alternative gear. He also carries my somewhat useless provisioning materials (tier 4 and below) that may or may not become useful again with the provisioning revamp.
Again, a lot of space is required to collect drops without banking too often.

Character #3, VR3, currently idle, 140/170 inventory.
m7mOLbQ.png
0VdYkbL.png
This one carries my useful provisioning materials (tier 5+) that haven't reached a full stack yet, as well as Treasure Maps (yes, I collect maps).
The space left is only used for crafting (all 6 professions).

Character #4, level 10, full-time mule, 113/165 inventory.
uIfrpx2.png
This character carries the gear that I consider "precious": mostly bound equipment from trials and dungeons, but also the old lvl3 rags from the prison in Coldharbour (maybe used for roleplay one day).

Character #5, level 9, full-time mule, 155/155 inventory.
NY23ttz.png
bmS8wrk.png
This one has different kinds of items:
- 1 stack of each style material
- 1 stack of each of the veteran materials in wood/bs/cloth, with 3 stacks for VR10+
- 1 stack of green, blue and purple upgrade materials
- several stacks of gold upgrade materials
- the gear I use to level alts: full setup (10 items) at level 10, 20, 30, 36, 46, VR1 and VR4 so far

Character #6, level 6, full-time mule, 82/122 inventory.
yz0PPFN.png
Stacks of flowers.

Character #7, level 6, full-time mule, 130/134 inventory.
3o3iP6N.png
Stacks of provisioning materials.
On a side note, if I crafted all the purple food that I could right now, with over 1000 tomato/oats/pepper combined, I would reach 10,000 hours of game time with food buff on. I think something's quite wrong here.

Character #8, level 6, full-time mule, 91/100 inventory.
q7qDh0K.png
Collectibles, pets and Costumes, with some fish bait.

Bank, 227/240 slots.
VHqfJ5f.png
PQ8fUyD.png
Mostly:
- all flowers that haven't reached 1 full stack
- crafting materials in BS/Wood/Cloth
- style materials (everything above 1 stack gets deleted)
- some potions and items being exchanged in between characters

Total: 1092/1426 slots.

I'd love to play how I want without using so many mule alts and spending so much time organizing my inventory but I simply can't.

Of course, changes are coming with update 6 for Collectibles and Pets, but I think the inventory system requires deeper changes.

Looks about right - apart from the maps (go get that treasure!) and the fish.

Fish might be called trophies but will stink out the whole bank if you keep them too long!

    OMG! I see 700 columbine!
And dude, you really have a problem. Why you collect all this? I'm vr too, and I'm a crafter, but I have on my main and in bank all I need. I have ~20 free bank slots and ~30 free inventory slots.
    Make sweetrolls, not nerfs!

A lot of people like to keep around things for roleplaying. (I'm impressed by the Columbine; I can't even keep a full stack around...)

I have the same problem as you, I prefer to b e as self sufficient as possible and I am a collector, It seems like I can never buy enough storage space for everything I have and it would be nice if the stacks could have more than 100 and if each type of item or class such as alchemy, enchanting, provisioning, could have its own bag, I have seen this done before in another game and really liked that I had more than one bag. I used to have every single treasure map in the game but I just didn't have the room for it which saddened me, treasure maps should have their own spot like questing items, pets should also

I will patiently wait and see what happens next, because no matter what I love this game and am so happy we have ESO now to be able to connect with other ES fans

I applaud your packrat devotion and all, but I thought mats were meant to be used, not stored for all eternity. What do you need a truck of hops for? Or all these flowers?

Right now drinks are useless because they can't stack with food buff. Sooner or later we'll be able to use both at the same time and hops will actually be worth keeping.

The same goes with most flowers. Those with negative effects not used in the current best 3 potions are pretty much useless, but once we get access to poisons they'll be useful.

Don't blame others for your hoarding problem :) You choose to collect treasure maps, lockpicks (banked lockpicks are useless) and ingredients you don't use.

I don't save anything on other characters so I'd be happy if there were just 50 more bank slots to purchase.

Has two bank alts one is for fun stuff, the other is for old sets and similar. Was 3 but removed one and made an functional add. Dumped lots of stuff I just stored for style and color and was not needed after I can do all styles and colors.

Think I will need one more bank alt to offload stuff from bank as I now need mats both for the low level one and the vr14 and room in bank for moving gear to low level caracter.
If I get more than two stacks of materials I use it or sell it.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I have a drink mats mule; food mats mule; alchemy mule. I have three alts that I actually level, and when not being used they store cloth+ leather, metals, enchanting runes. I keep one character (and the bank) pretty much empty; when I switch from my main to an alt I dump the stuff the alt is carrying into the bank and pick it up with the main. The last character stores the various trophies and leveling gear that I kept (e.g. warlock set for the 20s).

It really is much too large of a chunk of time dealing with inventory in this game, and this isn't just a matter of being a packrat. If you want rare recipes and motifs you have to rifle through a lot of containers and it takes more time to sort through stuff than to just take it all and deal with it when your bags fill up.

There are lots of spaces, but MMOs always give you incentives to collect things. I think that it would improve the game a lot to have fewer tiers of materials for crafting (in particular, there are far too many tiers at vet level), to have runes every ten levels instead of every 5, and so on.

I feel your pain. As I like to not only collect junk but also characters I don't have enough slots for bank mules so my answer was to create my own guild that was nothing more than a private bank. I filled it up fairly quickly (green recipies, every piece of jewelery I ever found, every piece of a dropped set I even found) and had to make a second "private" guild which is now up to 450 full spaces.

I am jealous of your stacks of Bugloss and Columbine.

I have one toon who keeps all unrefined mats, one who keeps all runes except Aspect, all waters and all provisioning mats, one who keeps full stacks of stuff and some recipes for sale, one who keeps extra recipes, motifs and set gear for sale. Refined mats and improvers stay in the bank unless I need to make room for another character to put stuff in. Alchemy reagents and aspect runes stay in the bank as well so that inventory auto-stacks when my toon that was out goes back to the bank.

I have 3 stacks of lockpick in my alt's inventory, that's 3 slots out of 1426, so around 0.2% of my total capacity. Does the issue lie here? Probably not. Besides, I don't know if you've noticed but lockpicks no longer drop from chests, so they actually deplete over time if you don't look from drawers and stuff.
I agree that Treasure Maps are useless, but aren't all collections that way? Do pets, trinkets and costumes have a practical use in the game?

I considered the small guild option, just inviting a few friend to get access to a guild bank, but in my opinion this is very close to abusing game features.
Guild Banks also take forever to load and items can't stack without using add-ons. This may still be a valid solution to stock weapons, armors and full stacks but I'd rather avoid it for now.
